Imagine Locatelli is there for taking for 40m euros and you are like not, we want Rice for 80m.

Nothing on new CB?

What I take from this is that we won't sign anyone exciting.

If we want to compete with City we should be targeting Marquinhos, Locatelli, Goretzka, Haaland...

I am fine with Tch and Traore as backups. But Rice and Lukaku? Please no.

Nice to see Kepa will stay.

According to Matt Law in this podcast...

- Not a lot is going on with Haaland. All just rumors, silly talks etc

- There were some talks with Inter about Hakimi but the club didn't want to pay the large amount of agent fees and wages. Tuchel may want a RWB signing, but the club don't see it as a priority because James, Azpi are still around. Club tried offload tp Alonso etc in a deal for Hakimi but Inter couldn't afford their wages

- Livramento not seen as an option for next season. Tuchel definitely wants a player who can play RWB/RB/RW and make an impact from the bench

- There is interest in Traore. Is seen as a squad option, someone to come off the bench and make an impact. Will be signed as an impact player

- Kane could well stay at Spurs because Levy can't afford anymore bad PR this summer...unless the new manager comes in and prefers to use the big money to reinvest in the squad

- Interest in Lukaku not dead in the water. Suggests Inter may still sell him or if not, they could sell Martinez instead

- There is interest in Rice and Rice is interested in us. Problem is West Ham and their supposed £100 million asking price. Something could happen if it drops to around £70 million (throw Abraham into the deal?). West Ham need money to invest in the squad. Rice likes West Ham (as well as us) but wants to win trophies

- Club want to extend Christensen's contract and Christensen wants to extend as well

- Talks on extending Rudiger's contract are parked at the moment. Both parties are relaxed

- Azpi's contract situation will depend on what he wants from here onward since he's won everything at the club. Club won't stand in his way if he wants to leave or will extend his contract if he wants to stay

- Tuchel keen to check on Loftus-Cheek in pre-season. He may go on loan to Sarri's Lazio. They get along well

- Gallagher will likely be part of pre season but likely to be loaned out again

- Marina has a tough job to sell and loan players out this summer

- Club been looking for a defensive, holding midfielder with height for the midfield for 2 years or so. Rice, Tchouameni, Ndidi mentioned

- Kepa unlikely to go on loan due to his wages, the loan fees etc. Could end up staying at the club

- Club could well be looking for a backup keeper

- Tuchel and club prioritizing quality over quantity. Tuchel apparently told people that he's okay with not getting anyone as opposed to getting the wrong players. Club prepared to play the waiting game if they have to

So basically fuck all is happening and we aren’t even close to signing anyone. We’re interested in targets that are either completely unobtainable or ultra difficult to negotiate for.

Starting to get a bit concerned now, ngl. Very much starting to feel like that summer a few years ago where we basically told the manager to go again with the same side.

If we didn't even want to pay large amount of agent fees and wages for Hakimi, imagine what's going to happen with Raiola and Haaland. 🤣

Seems like they were not keen on it because its not a priority position.

Seems Tuchel consider RWB as a priority position too.

but the links to Traore suggest he's happy with an impact sub player joining there

For me it wouldn't be the end of the world going into next season with the same side.

Since Tuchel has come in, our form has been at least 'title challenging' and that's him joining mid season when the mood is low, trying to implement a new system and fighting on multiple fronts.

I'm very curious and excited to see if this group can progress next season with Tuchel starting the season and having more time now to implement coaching methods, and also whether the Champions League win breeds more belief and confidence throughout the group. A number of players are still developing and growing.

Liverpool had a similar situation a couple of years ago where they won the Champions League and didn't add any players, but kicked on. Granted the season before they were pushing City for the title, but I don't think we're as far away as last season suggests because of our wretched form over the winter which was pre Tuchel.

Should we add a couple of players? Yes, this squad isn't perfect and there are a couple of areas that do need to be improved. But I've mentioned this multiple times, I do not want squad filler added. If the top targets are not available or attainable then let's not buy for the sake of it.

Matt Law did suggest that if the club are really gonna push the boat out on agent fees, wages etc, it'll be for Haaland.

Feels like this could end up being a classic case of the manager and club don't see eye-to-eye on a particular signing.

The adding the right players or quality instead of quantity is promising to see.

Too many people getting really panicky because we havent signed Haaland/Lukaku, Locatelli/Rice or whoever yet but these things don’t always happen overnight. Even more so with the Euros still on going, its more difficult to so deals as nobody wants to discuss anything to they are done as some of these guys are still involved and for clubs if players impress at the Euros, their value goes up.

Even the talk of Adama Traore as a squad/impact player, I don’t mind it, imagine bringing him on for 20-25 minutes in a game when people are tired to stretch a game? His end product has improved although still isn’t amazing but how many times does he get doubled up on or sometimes tripled up on? Think of the space he could create for others. How many fouls does he win also? I get it, Hakimi would of been better but at the same time Traore certainly isnt the worst player out there. RWBs a difficult role to find specialists who play there in and you’d probably have to say Traore is probably now in that mould.

Biggest difference is that Liverpool had absolute assassins across their attack that could score at will. We’d be living on a prayer that Werner and Havertz score 20 each to have a chance at challenging for the league.

At the very least we need a new striker even if we don’t strengthen anywhere else.
