Not saying he should've started here, but Giroud must really regret staying.. He carried us at times last season and seemed to earn his spot in the team after needing to be extremely patient for much of the year. Now bumped back down to 3rd choice and never playing again. Feel sorry for him, tbh.

Anyways, I hope this is a XI that will press very aggressively and be very energetic. We all know Burnley will try to grind this to walking pace and we often oblige teams that do that. Need to get the ball to CP and Ziyech at pace as often as possible. Don't let them park their whole team behind the ball and stifle everything or we'll drop stupid points again.

Because frank doesn't want to play that way. Add on to that we have one of europes most prolfic strikers over the last couple years and then our leading scorer from last year in front of him in a system with only 1 striker. How often does a teams 3rd choice striker get lots of minutes. Very rarely.

 

It is shit as he was great for us but it's just the way it goes at the moment.

Well lets hope we do not get a Bambi Abrahams performance today. I am glad we have moved to 433 and I said it may be wise to rest Werner here. However, Giroud whilst limited in his movement is great at getting the ball down and involving the AM's. For me, whilst he may seem more limited than Tammy, he is actually a better player as he brings the best out of players around him.

I fully agree giroud is better than tammy at the moment. But i think lampard sees someone in tammy who he hopes he can mold into something. If it was the CL final and it was a giroud or tammy thing i reckon he'd play giroud.
