It's very possible. Vietto is not ready to perform on a weekly basis yet. He wasn't even a weekly starter for Villarreal.

I didnt followed Vietto so i'll take your word, but Atletico are going to spend about 50-55 million euros on both strikers, usually they dont spend so much without selling.

They will sell either of Koke, Arda Turan or Griezmann. Koke probably staying put so there's choice between Turan and Griezmann. I still think that will be Griezmann but we have to wait. PSG are emerging as strong contender to get him.

I know I would sell Griezmann if Martinez is joining. For the right offer that is. €30-35 mil + Luis would mean a quality LB + extra cash to spend on top of the money from the sales of Mandzukic, Miranda and Alderweireld (€40-45 mil). Oliver Torres returning, and Correa possibly eligible to play next season, supposed to be a very big talent, adds depth to the squad. Same goes Velasquez. Not sure though, as they have that rule of only 3 non-EU players allowed in the squad.

But I also understand Simeone wanting some regularity in his team. Selling both Mandzukic and Griezmann would mean yet another new striker duo. It all depends on his plans for next season. He might make tweaks to his team as he's been using similar tactics for three years. Atletico are in a very good position to grow and they're no longer underdogs. Like Simeone said, only three teams are significantly stronger than Atletico.

He's going on holiday.

London isn't a bad destination. lol In all seriousness, the picture is nothing. What baffles me is:

1. Simeone said only Koke and Godin are irreplaceable and are not for sale. Direct pun at Griezmann and Mandzukis

2. Vietto - quite similar, from what I hear in terms of play. SS and AMC/Enganche.

3. Martinez - they've sold Mandzukic, but it's not like they will get 50 million to pay both Vietto and Martinez. They don't have THAT much money, they've said it themselves.

4. Other strikers - Torres and Correa are still there and Miranda is leaving. Correa, Jackson, Vietto will fill their FGN quota.

5. Contract extension - Griezmann is yet to sign a new deal, which was what Atleti were trying to do, before reports of a deal being accepted.

All these are far too many coincidences. I doubt Griezmann, Correa and Vietto will share minutes. If Arda leaves he can move to LW, but as far as I know, that won't happen. Something is going on. It's too quiet. haha

  1. #MUFC came forward, as well as #FCBayern and #PSG. Louis van Gaal's side was prepared to pay 45m Euros for Griezmann (via @telefoot_TF1)

  2. Faced with these movements, Griezmann might have feared losing his starting spot and he is no short of contenders (via @telefoot_TF1)

Despite his suitors, Griezmann remains. On Sunday at Stade 2, he stated his willingness to continue to Atletico next year (via @telefoot_TF1)

One year before the Euro which will take place in France, Griezmann has opted for stability (via @telefoot_TF1) #Atletico

Always love it when people list "big tournament next summer" as a reason for no switch. This way it would be impossible for all internationals to move every other year which is BS. Typical case of speculative jounralism

Lol, 45m for Griezmann, he's hardly worth half

The hyperbole on the site has reached new heights. Hard to discern who is actually here just for the sake of amusement and who is somewhat serious.

Given the market griezmann is def in around the 35m range.

They sold Mandzukic for around 20m, and will loan Correa and Raul Gimenez to Porto (at least that is a rumour). And they stil have that guy Leo Baptistao or whatever his name was. Quite a big thing few seasons ago, but gets on average loans every year...so they might sell him too. And they got some money for Miranda too.

That makes JM, Vietto and Griezmann. Last two can play on wing too, so I dont see a real problem. Atletico few seasons ago was a 2nd tier club. They were buying big like Falcao, but also selling big (Aguero etc). I think they have alot more money now, and IMO Simeone wants to create a top club who will compete with Barca/Real. Thats why he doesnt want to sell and wont sell players even if bigger offers come, unless players decide to leave.

AND they have guys like Guilavogui on loan at Wolfsburg (probably wolfsburg will pay nice bucks for him), Oliver Torres who was on loan at Porto. And Saul. Big talents, but all wont stay there so I can see Atletco earn some money from there too.

Leo was involved in the Vietto deal. He has gone the other way on loan.
