Luiz just showed what he can do for us in the future, beast of a defender with even greater potential than thiago silva in my opinion...

I'm not believing any exit rumors till mourinho speaks. First mata, now luiz, very soon they'll say mourinho doesn't like hazard because he's too short.

Hopefully that 45m deal with psg goes through. I said 20m would be daylight robbery but 45m holy fuck. With that money we could buy Bony, Van Ginkel, Kondogbia and Papadopolous. Leggo

I understand 45m is a WHOLE lot of money, but I don't like when we fans try to play our team like an account on Football manager. Luiz is over half of the heart and soul of this club, not to mention our only good center back who isn't quickly on the decline. Not to mention all those players you listed could all easily flop in the EPL,

I don't like when we are so quick to want to sell our club heroes, but I understand the desire the reinvest in the club.

Maybe I'm just biased because I really like Luiz..

He was solid last night against Mexico. That interception from Guardado's cross was vital, absolute beast of an interception, needs to play like that more often though. Hes also broke his nose from what I read, wow.

Seriously can't wait to see what Mourinho does with him. Nowhere near the "average" defender people call him.

Luiz has all the skills to be one of the best in the world. Jose will know what to do to get the best out of him.

Just because he can play in the pivot doesn't mean he should. I still think he's best used as a CB, he just needs to know when to take risks and when not to on the defensive end.

Luiz is over half of the heart and soul of this club,

No. No he's not.

He's a great player who has a lot of talent and determination but you are seriously overstating his importance to this club.

The great thing about him is that he has talent and great physical tools backed up by a strong mentality that pushes him on. The problem is that that same mentality seems to have the ability to switch off at times, and play a bit too casual. That's what leads to mistakes in my opinion.

As for the bid, €45 million is a lot of money and at the moment we're talking about a player in terms of his potential, two and a half years after signing him. We're taking about what Jose could do with him, and that's always going to lead to the club taking any offer for him seriously especially when it so wildly overvalues him.

Seriously can't wait to see what Mourinho does with him.

But this is the point. You don't seem to have an idea of how good he could be next season and until we do, €45 million is a lot to say no to.

Not unsellable by any mean as some make out here, occasionally scores a few brilliant goals but often has at least 1-2 errors in him every matches, some time costly. If we get £40m and Jose don't want him, must be sold. If only he could keep his trait while gaining Thiago Silva's defending ability, he will be the best CB in the world for many years to come.

Yeah, 45m is a lot of money, I'm not going to lie - but I have no desire in selling one of our top players whom we should be building the squad around - we're not a selling club.

On the flip side, you don't even know how good Mourinho can make him but history tells us that Mourinho can turn him into a great player and I'd definitely take that over money. Like you said in the Cavani thread - football is not just about buying the best players for huge money - it's about the bonds you make with a player, how the player affiliates with the club etc... You can apply the same theory to us selling Luiz.

Would you take a 30m offer for Lukaku because we don't exactly know how good Mourinho will make him? It's ridiculous to sell a player off because he *might* not get better.
