The optimist in me hopes that he is there to use whatever influence he has to try and talk some sense into the current regime about the futility of this awful war. The cynic in me says he's gone there to nail his colours to Putin's mast After Israel gave him the hassle, it must feel awkward that Moscow is the safest place to be. Pizy 18,928
Oh great, more controversy and the whole football media angry with us again with this latest statement from the club. It was indeed an incredibly stupid statement, tbf. This club just can’t catch a single break this last few weeks. Wish we’d just shut up and hurry with the new ownership before things unravel even further. nachikethas

Why should they and their fans lose out!
Sir Mikel OBE 4,920
The statement isnt stupid as much as its just incredibly tone deaf. Its like they dont live in the same world as the rest of us....they probably dont. Laylabelle

Tricky Houseman 7
Just don't understand the thinking behind it. It just attracts more hostility towards the club. If the boot was on the other foot would we do it..of course not. As far as I know we have already sold a few hundred tickets, it's not like we wont be without any support. We've just got to ride this period out, without making it more difficult than it already is.

MoroccanBlue 5,383
They have every right to decline our proposal but you'd think it was Carragher that wrote that. Hope we batter them now.

The club seem to be putting their foot in it. Think one of the cleaners is doing the press releases. BTW your user name, met Houseman and Ossie 👍. Disgusting how his murderer, son of a tory MP only got fined for the crime. Vesper and Laylabelle

Vytis33 1,272
Roman is selling his club and not taking a penny of profits that's already been decided. In the interim how does making travel logistics harder for players/staff help anyone in the Ukraine exactly? Or telling employees at the Megastore their jobs aren't needed at the moment. Etc etc. These punishments are all nonsensical honestly. This is going to be a multi-billion dollar transaction and the process just got started a few weeks ago. What's the harm in letting things operate as usual while this is resolved? And it will be resolved. But no let's just make things more difficult on a bunch of people who had zero involvement in any of this. Clockwork 1,794
So who is getting paid when Chelsea are sold? The government? Who’s pocket is that going to?

The government probably also think every other teams supporters will vote tory because theyre bashing Chelsea. Pathetic and hypocritical -Abramovich hasnt sanctioned any killing unlike the Saudi owners. cosmicway and OhForAGreavsie 1

Pizy 18,928
Really wish there were mass protests and visible fan anger similar to what we saw with the Super League. Kind of disappointing that there isn’t, tbh. That would probably be the only way this idiotic government would relent in their ridiculous punishment of fans, players, and staff. As stated above, you’ve already ensured Abramovich won’t see a penny from the sale, has been disqualified as the owner, and he’s effectively barred from entering the country. Why is that not enough? Why should everyone else in the club suffer?

No, would only encourage them further I am afraid. Chelsea fans are the scourge at the moment for singing 'Roman Abramovich', and the government always need scapegoats
