You're getting called out because you don't make sense. You bash Torres despite the fact he's at the peak of his Chelsea career thus far. You then say he shouldn't be judged on goals alone when we bring up the fact he scored our only goal today. So we point out his all round good work rate and still you continue. You should want every player who wears a blue shirt to succeed, marquee signing or not. So yeah, I'm afraid you're going to find that most level headed fans want Torres to succeed. And amazingly enough, we're likely to back him even more in this good run of form.

Edit: and as warnie 666 has posted above, our other forwards aren't exactly banging them in week in week out. So what do you want?

i want torres to succeed too but this is definitly not the way to go about. we are stretchin him thin. remember rooney's form.. but he was lucky to get that awesome goal against city which pulled him back from his slump. today even after scorin a goal u CAN NOT say that torres' confidence would ve increased.

Now I agree, the Torres bashing was well deserved last season, but this season he is a different player from last season, and the criticism is just silly.

Would you say Torres has been one of Chelsea's worst performers in this early season? Rather, if you step back from all the white noise that surrounds his name, he's actually been one of the better players overall, probably top 3 or 4. He's been Chelsea's best player in 2 of the 6 games so far. What is so wrong with that? Can he do better, of course. Is he improving? I'd say yes.

He's started two games with Mata, Meireles and Sturridge. TWO. And he's got 2 assists and a goal. Could have been 3 assists and 4 goals after today's game if luck was on Chelsea's side.

Not to mention he's tied for our top EPL scorer of the season so far...

The team selection is made by our coach ..Most people seem pleased so far and willing to trust him.

Already he has shown a willingness to ignore reputations . If he thinks fit to start with Torres I accept that . Remember also Drogba

Missed the First half.... But the Second Half we were Phenomenal... If we play the way we did today in the second half then we will contend for 1st come the end of the season.

Why do we always play better when we are chasing games?>

Even though we are only chasing because our defense is leaky.... but we do play better chasing...maybe AVB should figure out how to get players mentally ready for the intensity that we play with while chasing, from the start of the match?

Also, keep playing Sturridge.... I dont agree with others saying he is not ready and all that.... One bad game.... he will probably have 8 great games out of 10 and maybe 2 bad games,,, He should still start because of his drive and creativity,

Meireles vs Mikel is a very tough one. Both can be accomodated only if Lampard is dropped from the starting 11. Ramires deserves to play. Luiz does too. Dont know wht AVB hasnt played him much,

We played fantastically well though just a bit too though gung ho. i think many players can take positives out of this game but lets be honest that was probably the best Chelsea performance for a long time. Mata's passing and Torres's movement was just sublime, Mata needs to play in the hole !

Not one person on this forum will argue that his miss wasn't grim, it was. I score those down my local pitches all the time and I'm crap. But as many have said before me, every striker misses sitters. And so in the same vain, can we not say that Rooney's confidence will have taken a hit today given that he couldn't hit the target from a dead ball 12 yards out?

Lots of people are just focusing on Fernando's miss. Not even you lot but other fans I know. GET OVER IT. He scored, he played well, all strikers miss sitters every now and then! I wasn't even snapping over this game because tbh its still early in the season, it was a good performance, the scoreline doesn't really tell the whole story. I'm just going to stay positive!

When I see the perfect quality of Ramires' deliveries through, I really wonder if he could not play beside Mata in a Christmas Tree behind Torres (our only striker able to go into space). He could make the link between midfield and attack with his pace and speed with the ball, and his great vision in the last tier...

When we look closer, I don't know how many key passes (assist without goals ) in the space he has since he is at Chelsea, but most of them were absolutely brilliant. The one for Torres before his non-goal is the same as the one for Lukaku versus Norwich etc...

It's not a tough call. Meireles replaces Lampard. Mikel should be on to do DM duties. Raul can move forward and make good passes and link up with the front 3. I thought he should have replaced Lampard the day he signed but obviously that wasn't realistic. But I think it's time Chelsea look towards an era where Lampard isn't the first MF on the teamsheet. He still has a role to play, like starting against Fulham but I think Meireles is the guy to go with for most of the big matches.

What can I say about this game, Had everything really...Torres Brilliant in bits, then the finish....I gather enough has been said. No excuses. Dreadful. No doubt this will be the biggest talking point of all. Could of made a massive change. Our finishing in general today (not just Torres) still doesn't give me confidence in our strikers.
