Edinson Cavani

Jose spoke how he can play with two strikers on the field if needs be. This all hinges (if it is to happen at all) on Torres leaving/loan. Cavani can play up top and play wide as proven at PSG, and whilst not being his favored position, he can play there thus fitting into a system Jose can use and also playing in a two man strike force.

Like I said, PSG maybe filthy rich but they have to meet certain restraints on themselves now and they want Di Maria, they want him badly but Cavani will be the one, if anyone, to be sacrificed to some what sanction this deal for Di Maria.

I think there's legs in this, or at least I hope there is.

PSG can always sell lavezzi and pastore and marquinhos.

Cavani makes no sense.

We already have our Lukaku replacement in Drogba and we can't afford Cavani for different reasons. He would be unhappy because there is only room for 1 striker at a time here which is exactly the same problem he has at PSG and while his situation there can only improve (Zlatan getting old), he will most certainly have to share with Costa.

442 is not an option because first the manager doesn't fancy it and second even if he wanted to he has too many AMs and CMs at his disposal to dare and try it regularly as a lot more players would become unhappy. 4231 and 433 is the way to go.

Also, as proven in this current and previous transfer windows we're serious about FFP and we can't have the luxury of having 1 world class player on the bench.

If we can find a way to play both of them upfront against the bottom teams(4-4-2 may be) this could be lethal, something like this

----------------- GK -----------------------

Azpi ----- Cahill---- - Terry ---- Luiz

Willian - Fabregas - Matic - Hazard

--------- Costa - Cavani --------------

Substitutes:

Oscar for Fabregas

Salah for Willian

André for Hazard

MVG for Matic

Didier for one of them

I like the shape of that one

Let this be real. Our team would be unstoppable!

It already is, doubt any team can beat us convincingly atm, we are capable of going toe to toe witht Real, Barca and Bayern now. IF we lose it will be really close margin and not battered 4-0 like Barca and Bayern for the last 2 seasons against better teams.

I agree, but our attacking lineup isn't at the same level as Barca or RM. Our defence is the best in Europe IMO, but adding Cavani to our strike force would be lethal!

I like your defensive substitutions and your back-up goalkeeper.

Forget SAS and BBC, we could have CoCa up front!

Seems unlikely, but if we got Cavani it would probably be the best transfer window in the history of the sport.

I dont understand why some people say "we cant have both Costa and Cavani, they both need to play" and yadayadayada.

I think some people are affected by our striker situation lately that they simply dont realize that it isnt impossible (rather the opposite) for a top club to have two top quality strikers.
