The Next Manager?

I actually like this for the rest of the season.

The players need someone who will explain to them how privileged they are to play here and what it means to be a Chelsea player.

Our players don't lack skill. They lack heart and grit. Getting a legend in to tell you that you're a spoilt sack of shit and playing like one might be what lights a fire.

Yes because someone who already failed to motivate a certain % of this group as well as fell out with/marginalised certain guys here, and then went onto Everton and failed again is the exact guy to do motivate a group of players. Jesus. I mean look at how shockingly well motivated Everton's players were……

And he is someone who the players know 99% will be gone in the summer either way, so yeah going to work well isn’t it?

“Yeah players X, Y and Z, get your acts together or you might not be here next season”

“Ok Frank, no problem. Not like your going to be here next season to make that choice, are you?”

It is likely going to send the complete opposite message. I mean why burst a gut under this guy if you know your likely going to get a clean slate again when ANOTHER new manager comes in the summer?

If I was to be super optimistic, it depends on how you see things - if Nags/Enrique declined joining now (there was such rumor) or the board got fixated on the mission of destroying the club aka looking for someone more adequate for long term vision we need a caretaker till end of season anyway. Whatever Bruno had to do, Frank may be do better just due to his experience and there may be no expectation for him to actually do anything other, than not getting relegated. Also, I suppose Bruno could not really fancy being a scapegoat or taking the responsibility and the club legend was open to take one for the team as he don't really care and it can only help him if he decides to continue pursuing managerial career. This also points towards fact, that board is not expecting getting back to fight for Europe this season and it's not a first time they are giving up on results. Anyway, I'd guess Frank is supposed just to be here, not really attempt any miracles.

I actually think we had better chance of winning CL with Potter. Defense was very solid, since he is here only Newcastle conceded less goals. And as we know better than anyone defense wins you CL. Keep clean sheet and one odd goal. With Lampard it will be be like with Bayern 3 seasons ago... Statistically he is the worst defensive coach in Chelsea in decades. And since there is nothing to play for in PL this change is just bizzare. Only made for fans.

yeah really bizarre but at least real madrid game it will be next week and that don't give lampard too much time to work with this team

I don’t think there are reasonable pros and cons wheter we had better chance to win CL with Potter, Bruno or Lampard. All seems highly unlikely to beat Real AND Bayern/City in 2-2 games. However, TB cannot lose, if we win with Lampard he will be praised, if not.. then everyone moves on.

Typical twitter quotes taken out of context.

He was asked if he has been told if its strictly until the end of the season and he said: "no, but I think the role and the explanation of my role speaks for itself and the period that Im here for."

Also where did he say that we are in the title race? I saw the presser and he didnt say that. Another fake twitter quote. Never trust twitter guys. Its either fake statements or taken out of context.

I always told you to be careful what u wish for. U wanted Potter gone so badly that u didnt think about the consequences. For me it was always clear that we will appoint the new manager in the summer and not immediately. Most sane coaches who arent desperate to find a job want a fresh start after a finished season to start all over. Thats the case now as it seems. Maybe u thought that after Potter we can just snap and hire the new guy immediately, but that is not how things work, not at this stage of the season. So it was always clear we would have a caretaker for the rest of the season. And tbf, it doesnt really matter who that is. Now its Lamps, better than some unrelated random guy a la Benitez or sth like that.

U all agreed that hiring Potter was a rushed decision so this time the board is evaluating for a longer period to get it right this time. Exactly the right thing to do.

I have been lurking this forum for years and its quite rare to see someone talking actual sense here so kudos

Why would he need to say any of that to the players?    These last games of the season should just be about keeping it simple and scoring goals.

This is the chance for some of the players to give Lampard a send-off at the Bridge.

As for Everton, didn't they have Ancelotti and Koeman in charge?     They had bad mentality back then as well.

Let's just remember that he completely marginalized Rudiger, Jorginho players essential in CL win later.  And can we expect another clash with some player? Here it was Alonso and in Everton Doucoure.

He (hopefully) won't be here long enough.

I remember the early stages last time (which conned me into thinking he was a top manager in waiting) his express yourself vibes type of plan actually hit a perfect sweetspot with Sarri's training still fresh in the memory. For all Potter's faults we were looking pretty good building up in the first 2/3rds pretty much since Fulham away so i'm hoping for a similar sweetspot again.

But yeah it can't be a full time gig even if we win the UCL as eventually we will end up in the same position as late 2020/early 2021.

Surely the the team Bohely has put together are advising them that Lampard is a bang average manager at best. Surely they aren't being completely led by fandom. I would be shocked if Frank is actually a viable choice for the long term.

Don't think there is a any possibility for that but if he somehow do good you can bet huge group of fans would call for his stay.

But that will be prevented before, as I'm sure club will announce new manager for next season maybe later in April, maybe early in May.

No chance, since I'm sure new manager would be signed and announced while Lamps is still here. Bayern did this a couple of years ago.
