There's 2 options and both want to come. Just pick one now. We won't be in the champions league again at this rate the way boehly is running things, need to go for it now. That was allegedly his rationale for sacking potter

There are conflicting reports in both cases whether they'd be prepared to join now or would want to join in the summer for starters.

And who's to say that until meetings and due diligence has been conducted, that a better fit isn't available than both. I think the board are completely correct to take their time here.

they hired potter. I don't want them taking their time to explored more "alternative" options

Good to see that every candidate only wants to join in the summer and not now. No point in appointing them now. Even the candidates themselfs seems to follow that.

Trouble is, getting these last few matches could’ve given the new manager a firsthand look at who he wants to move on. Watching them in training everyday etc.

Now they’ll have to waste time in the summer or preseason for weeks seeing who they fancy or who they don’t.

Would Jokanovic accept interim role? Ex Chelsea player, better CV then Lamps. Promoted 2 teams to PL.

If getting 2 teams promoted to the PL (both with the biggest budgets in their division also) is the category for getting a job at this club we may as well have kept Potter. I hope you are joking.

If this lunatic returns then I'm done.

Tbf him or Lampard, it’s horrendous decision making. The squads still suited to a 3 at the back clearly but even then going for Conte would be mad. But going for Lampard is even worse imo.

Wait what… good to see? Is it? Why not appoint someone now who we envisage managing us long term and give them a chance at figuring out the squad, who they need to move on, who they should build around, what positions need strengthening in etc?

I mean the decision making process at this club under Boehly & Clearlake is absolutely baffling. Plus we have other clubs to contend with then for certain managers, the longer it goes on, the increasingly likelihood someone else will make a move for Nagelsmann, Pochettino, Zidane, Enrique, or whoever…

Enrique and Nagelsmann dont seem to insist on that, so maybe thats just another fan perspective that isnt really important to a real coach. In this day and age u dont have to attend training sessions so assess players, nowadays its all data driven. Im sure the candidates can have a look on the players remotely.

I find it hard to believe that both Enrique and Naggelsman were unavailable.

And even if they needed an interim, why Lampard?

Clueless move only to try and pander to the fans. There's no logic behind their decisions.

They're setting things up to ruin our next season as well.

Lampard appointment pros:

Very good English 👍

I honestly wonder if that's the reasoning behind the owners' thinking.

So they can chat whatever nonsense they want with the managers over lunch or just 'communicate' their nonsensical vision.

Lampard 2.0 is much better than the previous Lampard. He has now so much more experience having successfully managed big teams in the interim! If he sends Felix back, that's good enough for me tho.

I'd not go for Benedict right now and just wait out for when Bayern to sack Tuchel and get him back. Maybe by then he had time to find another nice young German woman. Only manager who can sell relentless high press every freaking season is Pep; I don't know what he promises the players, but it evidently works.

The problem is if he does have a succesful interim spell the crowd will pressure the board into making him permanent and I wouldn't be surprised if they do it, so when the inevitable 'muscle memory' from previous coaching wades off and we start playing like Stoke again (like we did post lockdown) we're back to the exact same problems of early 2021, with a toxic split fanbase of one's who can let sentiment go vs one's that can't and probably a section of the fanbase who can't or won't warm to the new boss because he's not Frank.

That's the thing isn't it? If we go an epic run in the CL, or just simply turn around our league form, we will face this question.

Fat chance that the owners would tell Lampard to quietly move on. Especially if he's bringing several team members on board.

In any case, I'd be interested in seeing what statement they put out if they do hire him. The clue will be in how explicit they are about his terms of stay.

This isn't like old man Hiddink signing on as interim until Ancelloti became available.

I have a feeling that their no.1 choice (guessing Naggelsman) wasn't ready to join, and they weren't too sure about the second choice (guessing Enrique), and so they decided to drag it out until the summer.

And they decided to instil Lampard as the scapegoat until then., so that at least the match-going fans would keep quiet.
