The Next Manager?

I disagree. I mean if we made him our no.1 target, I think he would very much consider it. Yes Leicester are only 1 point off the league, may be 4 by end of this evening, however he has to look at it long term wise. Who is able to attract better players and keep hold of their best players? Us or Leicester? Us. Leicester lost Chilwell last season and even if they get in the UCL, there is always a risk that their best players can get lured by better clubs.

Although he ended up committing to Leicester last season, when Arsenal sacked Emery he was linked with the role and he did not rule it out completely initially. Despite a poor run, we are still not far of the top 4 at all and it still can end up being a very successful season. It is not as if he is walking into a team where there is no aspirations ahead.

I definitely think it would cross his mind. Does he think he has a better chance of earning silverware with us or Leicester realistically. Also we are already in UCL.

I doubt it happens but if we did make a move, I think he definitely would consider it. He also has worked here before and this job would be a lot more tempting than the Arsenal one.

And, he has already left one club mid-season. He left Celtic to join Leicester in February and he even said this -

'I understand when I left it maybe wasn't the ideal time and there was a lot of hurt.'

'Hopefully in time they can respect my decision that I made. It was for no other reason than the professional challenge.'

'The ideal timing would have been the summer but I was in a position where I needed to make a decision because the situation at Leicester had changed.'

So basically, if he was offered the Chelsea job, he would feel the professional challenge again.

No, he once said that he would not come to Chelsea because he does not want to ruin his career. That says a lot of a former Chelsea youth coach and assistant of the first team. He said Chelsea does not give managers time, they give managers a lot of money instead. Also, he pointed out that by sacking every coach like Chelsea does on a regular basis, the bigger weaknesses can't be fixed and every manager gets the same flawed squad to work with. True.

Didn't he say it like 10 years ago? He was at the beginning of his career back then and things could be different by now (unless he said it recently).

He said this on a radio interview when I believe he was still Swansea manager.

A lot of time has passed since this. I think whilst the board are still demanding, they don't appear to be as ruthless as they once were and he himself has also experienced managing at the top end with Liverpool and how quick things can change (sacked within a season of nearly winning the title).

If we focus on managers who are in charge of a club atm, there is no better option than HASENHÜTTL. Amazing style of play, proven youth developer, could get our Germans firing, turned around one of the biggest lows of PL history, overachieving massively with his team and PL proven. What more do you want from a manager?

I would be oki with him if we cant get my first 3 choices

But most are like Sarri, who just think short term rather then long term

well of course when they know they will get sacked after max two seasons.

i cant see nagelsmann joining mid-season. same with hasenhuttl and rodgers. when was the last time a manager changing team in mid-season and in the same divison...im terrible with memory.

tuchel seems like the most obvious choice. sheva did a good job with ukraine nt...and is a good friend with abramovich <_<

Probably a bullshit article but as interim coach till the summer, why not? Shevchenko has a great relationship with Abramovich and as far as I know he's got the Ukraine NT playing some nice football, especially during the Euro2020 qualifiers where they finished top of their group ahead of Portugal. He's always talked fondly of his time at the club even though he flopped badly and like it says in the article even his son plays in the Chelsea academy.

Hadn't even considered this possibility but could be something worth thinking about. The likes of Tuchel, Allegri etc. won't accept an interim role so if the club are planning to wait for better options till the summer there aren't many top candidates available. If Shevchenko is ever planning to make the step to club management at some point, then a job like this on an interim basis could be a good starting point after four years in national team management.

Another interim coach candidate could be Steve Holland, if he can be acquired from Southgate's setup.

We already went with an unknown quantity in Lampard to begin with and it's not working too well. Not sure if it's wise to hire another unknown quantity, even if it's only on an interim basis.

Maybe, but new manager bounce is still a thing that exists. If things get stale under current management, it usually helps just to make the change even if it's only for a breath of fresh air and a few new ideas in the short term.

Of course I wouldn't sack Lampard just to get someone like Shevchenko in immediately but if Lampard gets some more time to turn things around and it doesn't work out, no proper manager will take the job just for the sake of 2-3 months if appointed in February or March and that's where a coach like Sheva could come in and try to scrape a European spot in whatever time is left in the season before appointing a more permanent manager in the summer. In those kind of situations the interim coach is typically someone who's more used to an assistant role with very little managerial experience so a full-time national team manager would fit the bill quite nicely if it comes to that.

But if Lampard is sacked in the next couple of weeks there are probably better and more experienced options to consider.

7 points of the top is nothing. Bring Allegri and win the title. Simple as that.

And if he wins the title with unconvincing football sack him in the summer.

Sack someone after winning a title? Fucking hell this is a bit daft. I hope its sarcasm because no way a top coach is coming here on peanuts where that would he financially possible also. Or are you on FIFA/PES/pc game mode? If he can win a title being 7 points off top up against Klopp, Jose, Pep and whoever else why would you sack him 🤣? Jesus christ. Would that not just be an ever bigger indication of his capabilities and his ability to get his approach over to the team pretty effectively?

l dont get what you mean by unconvincing football either, he won Serie A with Milan and they played some decent stuff. Juventus played some decent stuff (and many said Allegri improved Juventus after Conte after Conte famously made the quote regarding transfers before leaving while instantly improving upon his European record also...) while playing various different formations and making changes in the spine of their team.

People seem to have this perception hes Sam Allardyce or Tony Pulis is in an Armani suit by the looks of this forum. Hes not. Anything with this impression of him is, to put it bluntly, clueless.

He didnt get Juventus to a CL final playing unconvincing football. He didn’t win however many Serie As throughout his career playing unconvincing football/tactics. I think the fact hes been out of the game for a year and a half has given people this impression he will only be successful in Italy or his style is only useful in Serie A or whatever... which I am sure people probably thought about Conte before he came here, won the PL in a season where his approach basically reintroduced English football to playing with back 3s to the point now so many teams still use this systems more than they had in the last 10 years.

Yet bet when he immediately left Juventus you’d have taken him in a heartbeat prior to Franks appointment?
