I really rate Rice but he's nowhere near an £80m player. Or £70m or £60m. Is he worth that to WH? Probably. But if we can put a sizeable offer in the table like we did with Chilly maybe they'll settle for less due to COVID? Guess we'll find out.

But surely one or more have to be on their way out? Having squad depth is one thing but having Kante, Jorginho, Kova, Billy, AND a new deeper midfielder is beyond overkill. One of Kante or Jorginho HAVE to be going for big money. Maybe Barkley as well on top of one of them.

I think it's Rice or nobody. Like Chilly, it seems like Lamps is dead set on Rice and we'll wait as long as it takes to eventually get him.

According to Falk, Zakaria is also our target. It doesn't really matter now since Lampard is probably going all-out for Rice.

I really see Ross being chucked in as part of any Rice deal. Just think he would suit them

It's a consideration because he's approaching 30, is starting to get injured a lot, relies on his athletic qualties and this system doesn't really have a position that can bring the very best out of him. Put those all together and he's at huge risk of going the same way as Essien.

That said i'm a bit cautious about doing it this summer as i feel it will be one change too many but on a quiter summer i would have been fully behind any decision to cash in and spend the money on a player better suited to that role infront of the back 4.

Rice looks like he will play as a starter or rotate. If Roman wants to splash a lot of cash, so be it. I just hope Frank produces enough wins to be around long enough to see all this young talent hit its full potential.
