Chelsea have formally submitted a £15m offer to Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo.

It’s believed Ronaldo would be very open to the move to Stamford Bridge  and would like to stay in the Premier League. (Fabrizio Romano)

Ronaldo against teams in the bottom half or ones that can’t defend would feast in our team.

Ronaldo against everyone else would probably be an active burden who the rest of the players around him would have to carry.

Would Tuchel go for that? Is that gamble he’d take? I don’t think so.

He’s going to Bayern. Let’s be real.

Boehly/Tuchel probably want Neymar.

Lewa to Barca and CR7 to Bayern on loan seems the most logical solution. Bayern win again; no comment to a player on loan who also takes a paycut, whilst they also cash in €30m for a CF in his mid-30's who they've had the best years out of that they got on a free.

Next year, they buy the best CF on the market and send CR7 back.

I swear reading your posts about Ronaldo, you have him mistaken for Lukaku.

Can you see CR7 running and pressing against Liverpool for example like Havertz did well? Or any other world class opponent?

No he can’t, but Ronaldo can score you those goals we desperately needed. I actually see Ronaldo complementing Havertz game much better, Havertz doesn’t score enough to justify him leading your line. Adding CR7 would be good for him.

The only similarity between Ronaldo and Lukaku is defensive work rate, Ronaldo scores against everyone, his movement is on another level to Lukaku. I see Ronaldo blending in much better than Lukaku.

Honestly it is a disgrace to have both of them in the same sentence.

the problem is you can not just put Ronaldo on the bench for games he is not suited to. he will moan, sulk, throw a fit, try to attract all the headlines and derail the team spirit. Because he is an sick egomaniac. Always was. this is a team sport, no one should be put on a pedestal this much. Teams put up with it bc he delivered goals. But now, he is not good enough anymore. We would just become a worse team trying to play to his waning strengths. as a consequence we would just regress as a team, depend on his goals and be left hungover when he leaves in a few months.

The one thing I would say about Ronaldo is, unlike Lukaku, he's genuinely elite and there is an unquestionable desire and thirst to be the best and be a winner. In the right environment, those characteristics rub off on younger players.

However, I would be seriously concerned about the ability to press teams high up the pitch with him. It was a huge issue with Lukaku last season where having just that one player not capable of pressing in sync as a unit left us a lot easier to play against.

I have real reservations that at the very top of the modern game (and bearing in mind we have to compete in a league with Liverpool and City) you can carry a passenger anymore, no matter how good that player might be.
