They are writing the rules for the new FFP. It has been said that this year is almost a free pass. It is why Barca does not give two fucks about all the players they are getting.

Any links to reports stating such?

62m£ for cucurella wow to keep cowil

where did you read that

the highest figure I read were 68m euros which is 57m gbp.

anway, we should walk away at this point. this is just too much. it is crazy. Cucu is good but not world class. That fee should get you every lb in the world bar phonzie&theo.

Apparently it will be around £55m and £7m potential add ons.

yeah and that should have been a warning as well

at that time 51,75m pounds were only 57m euros tho

The conversion rate should have no bearing when we're discussing English clubs. Either way, it's a bit rich, IMO.

Paying that much for someone that isn't of the level of Hakimi (he cost just under £60m twelve months ago) or such isn't great business. Hope he turns out to be a good investment, though.

k thx

this is just absurd.

Sorry we should walk from that deal. If we offered that kind of money to bayern or milan they would start thinking.

We essentially paid more to keep Colwill. Let's hope he has some season.

I will not, repeat, will not endure another season with Alonso at LWB.

Sorry, just not going to happen.

If i had to guess it's looking like a similar plan to the early Roman years, spend our way to parity with the big two then focus on the sustainablity profit side of things once the success arrives which is where i'd guess the big money signings while still happening will be less frequent and we'd be looking at getting Slonina, Colwill, Hutchinson etc in the side.

Hopefully we do that second bit better this time as we really stood still with squad building circa 07-10.

I agree, I think they'll try and spend quickly to catch up over this summer and next before looking to maintain that position. Remember that Pep spent around £400m across his first two summers at City to reshape a squad that already had a strong, title winning core.

In theory so long as the club is successful, it should be able to sustain a transfer budget of roughly £100m each summer, which should be ample if used correctly to bring in one or two players each summer to freshen the squad up.

yeah no one said anything about alonso. if we are prepared to pay this much for a leftback, there are tons of options not named alonso

And who is available that is proven in the PL along with having metrics suitable for our system?

Can someone be deemed "proven in the PL" after one season?

If Cucurella doesn't start the majority of our games this season, someone like Hickey would have been far cheaper option and four years younger.

Pl proven is a myth

but even with there are Tyrick Mitchel, Kieran Tierney and Rayan At-Nouri. at a stretch Aaron Hickey, Mykolenko, Angelino, Jonny Otto or Rico Henry.

if we offered that moeny to liverpool for robertson, chances are they would take it.

You pay a little extra for that kind of hair. Every team needs a guy out there that runs around with massive locks flying everywhere to be a proper team! 😅

I would say yes when it becomes blatantly obvious they can cope with the pace of the game.

Being proven to cope with the pace of the Premier league assures less risk.

I swear we had this same argument two years ago when people were advocating cheaper options in Regulion and Tagliafico over Chilwell.  Tuchel so far has been faultless when it comes to the defence so when he wants his players in, you simply have to trust him.

Of all those options at least 90% of them aren't good enough.
