I have been lifting weights for 10 years so i am most probalby stronger than Kounde.

but that was not the point. I said in kreisklasse, which is the lowest division in German football i would surely best any defender this small given he has a similar skill level. This is why you could expect a big striker with a similar, top level skill set as Kounde to have a huge advantage over him.

I suppose one argument would be that a number of these big, strapping centre forwards we're talking about probably don't have as high a skill level as him.

I've watched a few videos of him today and one thing is he does look powerful across the ground so I don't see him being consistently bullied in that way.

The height is obviously a concern but everything else about him looks very, very good. He's never going to win everything in the air, and there will no doubt be cases where it is a problem. However no player is completely perfect and if Tuchel is looking at defenders who are comfortable on the ball to dominate possession and quick across the ground to play a higher line then he does seem to tick boxes.

Obviouly Kounde is a skilled defender but if i were still playing striker(i am 1,92 and well over 90kg) and got a 1,78, 70kg CB lined up against me in Kreisklasse i would eat him alive. That guy would either leave the pitch with 5 goals conceded or a broken ribcage lol. Surely, the refs down there are half blind half lenient but so are the refs in PL.

His wage demands are also probably very low as well, if we signed Varane, Christensen and Rudiger would've wanted better wages to match Varane.

And kounde have a lot of potential

Varane was very good but his last 2 seasons was very inconsistent. organize and comand United defense without Ramos will be a good test for him

Well if we get Kounde for something like Zouma + 20-25m I can still see Haaland deal happening.

Don't think Zouma is valued at 40 million and Tuchel supposedly still want a new midfielder...

If we had been hearing rumblings for weeks that we were in contact via back channels or something I’d still think there is a chance for Haaland. Like with Havertz last summer we heard simmering for weeks and weeks. Haaland has said himself that he hadn’t even been in contact much with his agent. That combined with multiple people like Romano and Fjortoft saying there’s been zero contact between us and BVB makes me think this is just a no-go.

Too late in the window and surely too big of a transaction to just rush through. If we had attacked the situation shortly after the window opened and given BVB the entire summer to identify and sign replacements we perhaps could’ve done a deal. Doesn’t seem realistic to complete a 150m+ deal in a couple of days.

But Kounde has a release clause of €80m.

Just like Ruben Dias had 100m release clause. Plus when you add player RC is irrelevant. And we are negotiating with Sevilla which we would not do if we just plan to pay RC.

And we have this report...
