MoroccanBlue 5,399
Disasi doesn't even fit Maresca's set up. He can't play as a sweeper or isn't fast enough as the outside CBs. We should be offloading him. Clockwork, mkh and Vesper 2

Money we can then use to throw at a top keeper. Extremely smart and sensible transfer. I know people will be sad to see Trev go and I will be too, but Tosin is jus as solid defensively as Trev is but looks much better on the ball and on a different planet in terms of initiating attacks from the CB position. If we can bleed Man United or whoever else for £40m or more whilst getting an upgrade for free I think it’ll be incredible. I’d rather they sign Chalobah who is a solid 7 out of 10 CB than a genuine world class one. I don’t think he improves them at all, really. He is maybe better on the ball? But thats maybe. We need a top CB to lead our backline, not an average one. He isn’t an improvement on anyone we already have but I suppose if they can sell Chalobah for pure profit and replace him for free with someone they will see it as a win. If I am honest, if a club like Brighton/West Ham/Bournemouth etc signed him on a free I’d go ok thats a sensible signing. For us, its so mediocre. But thats obviously the remit for us now. Average and some sort of ties to Man City. Edited June 1, 2024 by OneMoSalah

He is too expensive to take the risk. Bo-Clownlake fucked us up by shitting away hundreds of millions of quid on some horrific buys, such as Wes Fofana, Sterling, Badiashile, Disasi, and all the first window plonkers like KK, etc etc That's where the Osimhen (and a shedload more) money went. Shouldn’t be replacing Chalobah with someone of the same level though in all honesty. Should be upgrading. Particularly with Thiago having left as well. I really hope we are going for another CB and a top one or we will be stuck with an average backline. Likes of Disasi & Chalobah/Tosin aren’t the CBs you build a defence chasing a CL spot around. Plus we have Levi and Badiashile as well, both who are younger and struggled last season so the need for a top top CB has never been more appropriate. Too many 3rd/4th choice CBs. Mário César 1,475
why buying a defender that is the same level of chalobah? I dont understand but ok
Mário César 1,475
yap. I think it is time to forget about osimhen and this is fine for me. too expensive, specially without ucl. lets see what the board will do

Trev doesn’t have that in his locker at all. Tosin to my eyes looks like a an 8/10 level CB whilst Trev is a solid 7. I think we improve slightly in defense with Tosin whilst improving massively in buildup play. On a free I see literally ZERO downside. If we were buying him as a £50m, “this guy has to be a superstar” deal then I’d be weary. bluesman2610 and kexik

All that - and you get a free swap, while adding all the profits to go out and get another player with those profits. Its like someone giving you the exact same house next door, but telling you - you also get 50k to buy a car if you swap. Jeez. People getting pissed off at a free signing in here. Go outside guys. Its really not that bad. Strike, bluesman2610, kexik and 1 other 1 2
Pizy 19,251
Trev is and has been very solid as a back 3 CB where he has had Thiago Silva next to him and other players that can mask his weaknesses. But I don’t think he’s good enough to be starting in a back 4 for a top club. Maybe for West Ham or Everton but not here. And Maresca likes playing 4-4-3 or 4-3-2-1, right? In which case I don’t see how selling Trev is this big loss that a\some of our fans think he is. He’d be purely a bench player if all of our CB’s are available. mkh

Have you watched him extensively, because given what Fullham fans are saying and given the attention he is getting no way he is a 8/10 CB.

Pizy 19,251
Keep in mind we’re also a much better team than Fulham and he’ll have MUCH better players around and in front of him. It’s fine to be skeptical, guys. But damn, he’s FREE! And his on-ball ability is a huge upgrade on what he’s replacing. I’d get the hesitation if he was costing us a monster fee with huge wages. But damn, how often can you sign a physical beast of a CB, WITH PL experience, with great ball playing ability, and on a free? Complete no-brainer. Brother the issue here is you are overrating the shit out of him. "Huge upgrade on what he is replacing." Like you said he is on a free, don't think anyone is bothered by him coming in if he is depth player. But as an automatic starter that is an issue. Hope Axel Disasi is also sold, and we get another CB that is counted on to be a main starter.
