She didn't wait until we sold some deadwood to get Kepa either but that didn't stop her to waste so much money on him.

There is a big difference between spending 70m and 150m-200m (and that's just transfer fee alone).

Yeah. If they had zero intention of selling they wouldn't publicly flirt about the possibility someone putting in a crazy bid.

Well, they have to give an answer if they're being asked about it, no?

Today alone, you have the adviser said what he said and then their soon-to-be sporting director emphasized again that he's not for sale. So, go figure...

I dunno, £70m for a unknown tiny GK with poor stats vs the mostly highly rated young pure CF since Fat Ronaldo, who had unreal stats doesn't seem that disproportionate.

Problem however, is that the club clearly fecked up with Courtois (and what ever other GK targets we had) so panicked, lost their sanity and went all in on a funsized GK.

Are we arguing about Kepa's capability or the difference in transfer fee here?

Arguing about how if someone on the board can sanction £72m on Kepa then they're perfectly capable of putting down £150m+ on Håland.

Yeah and I'm not saying that we can't do it but it's still a huge difference in the transfer fee. Spending around 70m for someone is never a problem for us but we've never spent more than 100m or even close to it on a player.

Think he is worth it either way you look at it, he is a certified baller and along Havertz very marketable player, next season will be tougher with the clause. End of next week will probably tell us exactly if it can happen or not, not very hopeful but if it a time to go desperate now will be the perfect time unlike Kepa.

Not saying whether he's worth the money or not. All I'm saying there's a difference between spending 70m and 150m+ on someone. Spending around 70m on a player has never been a problem for us but spending 150m+ on someone is a new territory for the club.

If we could afford the 150m+ outright, one would imagine we would have put in a bid by now but if reports are to be believed, we haven't done that. So, you do wonder whether we actually need to sell the deadwoods to help fund the deal (our summer spending last year was funded by the sales of Hazard and Morata for example). As Jype mentioned, we haven't been able to sell the deadwoods yet and time seems to be running out to put in a bid for Haaland.

Next year its just us and Bayern. City, Utd or Pool may go for him. Madrid may be able to squeeze him in with Mbappe maybe. I don't think any other team can afford him. It depends what he wants and if he likes Germany, we will lose out to Bayern.

However, in prem we have the lure of London and 2 CL won. We also have German players especially in attack, who have replicated their form and he may want to prove himself at the top level. We have shown interest so it could happen even next year. I would prefer to spend 65m than 150.

This is clearly true. Dortmund's position is completely transparent but be careful. If @Jas reads it he's likely to reply with some ridiculous gif as if it's a punchy rebuttal.Yes Jas your response when I made the same point a couple of months back irritated the heck out of me and, as you can tell, it still rankles. 🙂

This forum is a place where articulate people debate their opinions. I've read your stuff Jas and this most especially applies to you. Disagree by all means, even when you are as spectacularly wrong as you were in this case, but you have the ability to express yourself man. Any old body can post a gif.

this seems like dortmund is begging us to send a big offer.

Posturing to attract a big bid. They did the same with Sancho and United didn't go for it. I wonder if Dortmund will be wary of that and accept the first bid this year with Haaland.

Jokes aside, if you have read my stuff, you would have seen that I had replied to that Jype post last night in normal fashion. No GIFs, just plain text.

Also, I'm amused that you were/are annoyed with GIFs in replies. Yes, I am aware that the forum is a place where people debate their opinions but it's also the internet! Why be serious all the time?
