Felt a bit like the City game last season where we scored that last minute winner at the Etihad (barring the fact we didn’t take the 3 points today) although again, our performance on that day, we deserved to win. Today just felt similar. For me the mentality, the standards, the difference from under Frank now is enormous and so clear. This is why I find it so frustrating when people thought on here pre match we would get absolutely shafted or we could struggle to make top 4 if we didn’t get something today or even when we got it back to 2-2, we could fuck it up still etc. Our performances in the big PL games this season have generally been good barring United and Man City. I think its more because we changed from a 343 to a 352. Not having Pulisic free inside to drift and run into those inside pockets as opposed to being fixed at RWB didn’t help but all in all, I don’t think Jorginho really helped or hindered us either way but his introduction was necessary because of Trevor. Said on TTs thread this is the first time since Mou the first time I feel the manager is not responsible for the rut. I feel it's testament to Tuchel's quality we have only had one fluke defeat in our bad run. OneMoSalah, User, manpe and 5 others 6

When was the last time we had this few defeats at this point of the season? It's just those draws! Also, don't get the feeling that the players have given up on Tuchel like we have seen so many times in the past.

That's what's cost us these stupid draws especially the last minute ones or last 10. Still new year..new us! Its a start. Not a win but to come back from 2-0 for us is good seeing lately it hasn't been smooth

How ironic that we've (so far) lost more when things were going good as opposed to when we were in crisis, only us 😂🤣😂🤣

I want to see how they react with the Lukaku situation. And with the contract situations. I'm writing off Christensen and maybe Azpi., but I want to see them reach a compromise with Rudiger. Offload Lukaku, and use that to boost Rudigers contract. Tomo and coolhead23
cosmicway 1,333
Jorginho was a strange sub for Chalobar. As if he was expecting us to win a pen. Better Christensen I should think.

Better Christensen I should think. Sure would of been but Christensen was at home. He had a back problem which is why he came off the other game v Brighton. Sarr was only natural CB on bench, I did expect CHO to go on for Trevor and go RWB though with Azpi at RCB so was surprised when Pulisic went there instead as he had been causing them trouble inside. No but i have noticed midfielders run circles around Jorginho on occasion and him being one of the main culprits when we drop points with his individual errors. I appreciate what he brings on the ball but off it I think we are and have always been incredibly weak in midfield. I’d rather we upgraded on him. We need a Rodri or Fabinho. Seymop 90
I may be an exception, but thought we played a much faster tempo without Jorginho on the pitch , who passes a lot but most go sideways or backwards. No wonder Lukaku is fed up, we take so long getting the ball forward !! Today we looked so much quicker, threatening and entertaining. In the end a worthy point that was almost three

Superblue 6,372
It was a far from perfect performance but it was really good to see some grit and fight in this group that had felt in recent weeks like it had waned somewhat under the pressure. Coming back from 2 goals down will feel more like a 'win' for us and should be a building block in a difficult run of games. And I'm just as happy with the boost this should give Tuchel and the players playing today. All the Lukaku distractions have been through no fault of their own, so it was nice that come the end of the game it's something that doesn't warrant discussion. Tuchel has played his hand, the fans backed him like they were always going to, and the players stood up in adversity and played for him and the badge. So the next move is Lukaku. I think Tuchel dropping him and getting through this game with a result, and then suggesting that it can be resolved actually eases the potential situation but it comes down to Lukaku. If he doesn't want to be here then something needs to be done in January. Even if it means shipping him out on loan until the summer and we roll with what we have for the rest of the season. From this point last year, the same group minus Lukaku took us from 9th to 4th, a cup final and a European triumph. It won't be ideal but it'll be necessary if Lukaku wants out.
