Saying he’s interested is a bit useless. He’s probably interested in like 8 clubs.

And unless we do some kind of strange deal where we buy him now but let him stay in Dortmund for a year, waiting does us no good. By this time next year we could be outside of the CL places and coming off a poor season. Then we won’t be nearly as appealing to him. Bayern will have been tapping him up all season. And Real Madrid/PSG/City/United will be in his agents ear offering him £600k per week to sign with them.

It’s now or never.

I would agree. Cash + Tammy the likely best option. If Batshuayi can look good at Dortmund, Tammy would be a great option for them.

The issue here though is there may be an opportunity to buy one of the absolute top young talents in world football and somebody who looks primed to be one of the best strikers of this generation for the next decade or longer. With the current situation we're in compared to almost all other clubs we could really set ourselves up for another period of dominance.

People questioned in the same way buying Havertz last season as we'd already signed Werner and Ziyech and had the likes of Pulisic and Mount, but I think it was a big and correct call to identify him as a superstar in the making and to get him when we had effectively a free run at him. If Haaland represents a similar opportunity this summer then I think we should try and get him.

However if Haaland doesn't materialise, then I'd rather run with what we have then just buying any striker for the sake of it.

I know it's Haaland and I know he's a striker and you could say we need a striker but at the same time, there's also an element of "we need to buy him because he's the shiniest toy out there" to this. Last summer, it was Havertz. This time Haaland. Next year, Mbappe? There seems to be little thought given to the squad building here and the club, including Roman, just want to buy every shiny toy out there. While Haaland's position is at least obvious, I'd argue that we are still trying to figure out Havertz. Like, what is his best position? Is he a False 9? Is he an attacking midfielder? Is he a #10?

But what if Abraham doesn't want to go to Germany?

As opposed to what? Villa and West Ham? Two clubs that will never play Champions League football?

Add the prospect of leading the line for a Champions League club, Dortmund's history in developing young players, their stadium and fans, I would be astonished if Tammy would insist on staying in England.

Looks even slimmer that he would want to go if Sancho leaves also this summer as he is someone he knows at least although Bellingham is there tbf.

I really can’t see Dortmund wanting Tammy all that much either in all honesty, I think they’ll go for Andre Silva makes more sense for their type of buy.

May as well try though if Haalands on the table potentially. Still going to need to shift one of Alonso/Emerson and 3/4s of the shit loan players if we want to buy more than just a CF though.

Who knows? How many English players have decided to go play abroad? Not many. A lot prefer to play in their own league in England while getting stay close to the family etc. Moreover, if clubs like Villa and West Ham show ambition to get into Europe at the very least - e.g. Europa League - it would hardly be astonishing if Abraham is okay with that. He can also bide his time, improve his game and then wait/hope for a big club to come calling, just like he probably would if he goes to Dortmund anyway.

Really? Mbappe only has one year left, PSG either sell him now or let him walk for free next summer.

I know, but I find it much complicated still then dealing with Dormund.

More then likely Mbappe signs a new contract and we are left chasing nothing. Because PSG is a club that offers everything. So it's not the same as Dortmund, where people jump to the next club that will offer more money and chance to win the CL.

Even if we buy him now, it would mean blowing our wage structure already, which will cause problems down the line with the other players.

I watched Fjortoft's ESPN interview on the subject. He genuinely seemed to know something. Given his reported relationship with Alf-Inge he is a) in a position to know and b) likely to respect the family's wishes if they did not want him to go as far as giving the hints he gave.

Personally, the player I'd most like to get from BVB is Bellingham but I definitely don't see him feeling ready to leave yet.

These days definitely more than before.

Currently there are Sancho, Bellingham, Tomori, Trippier, Smalling, Young playing in Spain/Germany/Italy just off the top of my head, as well as some academy youngsters who've left the UK to pursue first team football elsewhere. Ramsey is Welsh but I guess you could count him with the lot too.

Most will definitely stay in England, especially because English clubs can generally pay higher wages, but I don't think the current generation of players are as picky about where they play as the ones say 10-15 years ago.

All those journalists seem as if they know something though. Thats the whole point of their job.

I have no doubt we are interested but 6 months ago reportedly Haaland didn’t consider us a top club so it just shows how erratic the media can be.

I think if he had his pick of all the clubs and they all matched his demands we would be near the bottom but because we are in a position to do something this summer, we are the “favourites”
