I THINK it may depend on whether Sarri accepts his extension. Or Roman wants to pay his Joe Baksi!

Almost universal thinking amongst the journo's that he's off. Think in the end it's comments from our players like Hazard today that will do him in. I'm sure quite a few of them are sick of setting up defensively and playing like a small team.

The stupid thing in all of this is the journalists framing Conte's inevitable departure as another case of Roman sacking the manager because he didn't meet expectations, when Conte has spent pretty much the entire season begging to be sacked. Roman being a trigger happy owner when it comes to sacking managers is one of the stupidest myths ever.

Winning the FA Cup is nice, but winning it doesn't make any difference to let's say if we had lost the final. Except maybe delaying Conte's sacking for a few days.

Completely have to disagree, it's all about winning trophies and adding to the overall success of the club in my opinion.

Maybe as a club we've been spoilt, but it says a lot about the club in my opinion that even in a bad season we've still won a trophy. Bearing in mind that providing Liverpool don't win the Champions League the only other team to win trophies this season were City. I understand the need to finish in the Champions League places but I would always take trophies over it for the enjoyment they bring. Spurs for all their plaudits haven't won one yet, and nor have Liverpool. 

With regards to the game and tactics, I have been far from impressed with how we've played and been set up to play in a lot of games this season but definitely won't be blaming Conte today. Final's are notoriously cagey and rarely live up to the hype. People only ever remember the winner in a final and that's all that matters in them. No one remembers how bad we played against United in 2007 when we defended the whole game and extra time and nicked a goal at the death.

FA Cup is nice to have, but we are bigger than just winning the FA Cup. It's equivalent to Barca, Madrid or Bayern failing to get CL, failing to win the title...but winning a Spanish/German Cup. Not good enough at all.

United ended up trophyless this season, but next season they can banter us all season saying something like "Only the big clubs are in the CL". 

It's nice we won the FA Cup, but it certainly does not in any way, paper over the cracks of a shambles of a season.

Yeah but our performance today does not help Conte's case of staying as our manager. I don't care if people will forget how this final played out 10 years from now, I'm talking about now, the present. We didn't play well today, we looked so average all over the park except the Belgians, Kante and Rudiger.

It was a good thing we played boring Mou United today. If it was any other top 6 side, we would had lost.

I can understand your argument but firstly the premier league is much more unique than the other top leagues in Europe in that we have 6 big clubs competing for 4 champions league places so 2 teams are going to miss out each season. And again domestically, there are only three trophies a season handed out so they should all be seen as worthwhile achievements. I understand the financial considerations, etc of being in the Champions League but we should be big enough now to attract very good players to the club without this carrot. 

I would love to see a manager come in and bring a more bolder attacking approach so long as we're still successful. The fact is projects can be seen as a success but don't bring anything tangible at the end of them. Spurs and Liverpool are still waiting for trophies under their respective managers, whilst in that same time frame we've won 2 leagues, an FA Cup and a league cup. The fact is you have to take trophies when they are available and saviour them because you don't know when the next one will arrive.

The other thing that gets lost amongst this is that consistently winning trophies, no matter how insignificant some fans may deem them, breeds a winning mentality and culture throughout the club. A lot of players have come in since last season so it was important for them to start winning as soon as possible. It keeps the hunger of doing it again and develops the experience of playing and winning finals under pressure. Other teams don't have that.

imo Conte staying the whole season already is huge change in Roman's approach towards managers. Few years ago he would be gone before the end of last year.

I never said winning the FA Cup is not an achievement. It's just shouldn't be the only achievement. In all honesty, what's the difference between winning the LC and the FAC? Oh, the FAC gives you an invitation to play City for the Charity Shield. 

Also let's not forget this is the 2nd time out of 3 that we are out of the CL. We are beginning to not be constantly be in the CL. I think we still need that carrot, especially that Hazard still hasn't signed that contract.

Let's hope Pool don't win the CL because then the wait would have paid off big time.

Again, I'm not saying we shouldn't go after trophies. That's stupid. But Chelsea should be up there with the Elite. How could we when we are inconsistent on getting in to the CL? I get that we don't know when our next trophy will arrive. And if today was a one-off, fine. But it's slowly becoming a pattern now, and going back to the "we are big enough to attract good players" without CL...let's remind ourselves that Llorente snubbed us for Spuds last summer, and we struggled to find players to come to us. And that was WITH CL football. Imagine now without CL football.

What do you mean other teams don't have that? Arsenal were in finals 4 seasons in a row. United 3. Liverpool 2. The only team you can apply here is Spuds.

Besides you say winning trophies breeds winning mentality. Maybe for other clubs, not Chelsea though. 1st to 10th, and 1st to 6th. Morata played for only 5 minutes though so for him, today shouldn't really count.

I agree with all your points except the final one. Chelsea have been the most successful club in England since Abramovich came in. The mentality and culture of the club is winning trophies. No matter how mental the club is deemed to be run by media and fans alike, it's always been backed up by the trophies and success of the club. 

I'm not saying this year hasn't been abysmal because it has, and I've posted numerous times myself that the inconsistency in the league over the last few years is a huge worry that needs addressing.

My points were made more so against your original point that you said you didn't really feel anything about winning the FA Cup. As I said previously, for me its the trophies you win that leave the memories and moments that you look back on. I was at the cup finals in 1997 and 2000 when i was young and that feeling back then of winning something will always leave a massive impression. No matter how big the club is or perceived to be, any trophies we win are great because there are so few handed out through the season.

Seems Conte doesn't get on well with the Brazilians we've had. Fallen out with all of them. Diego, David Luiz, and now clearly Willian. And we know what happens when the players are unhappy with the manager.

Willian has been dog shit bar a few games this year. What an absolute pleb of a player. You don’t have to like the guy but this is awful behaviour.
