The Conte Thread

Imagine we line up with essentially the same XI as this season with maybe one new player. That player being a new CB and that's it as far as the first XI goes.

I think the big 3 are completely safe (Hazard, Costa, Willian) and Conte is a known admirer of Oscar so it doesn't look like he's going anywhere unfortunately. Fabregas is safe and so is Azpi. That leaves only a few positions that are still up in the air. Matic, LB, and CB. No chance we sell one of our only English players in Cahill, Ivanovic is a club favorite so he'll be here.

We may have the same slow, labored attack with only one or two sources of goals next season which is a recipe for disaster in addition to a defense with only one new face.

I hope Conte and the board realize that this is a huge window and minor changes won't cut it. We need an Oscar replacement, a new CM or two, and 2 defensive players. Trying to "get the best" out of players who have been average for years and under multiple managers will see us struggling in midtable again. Oscar in particular has had chance after chance under several managers and hasn't improved at all. Look at other players in his position an his contribution is pathetic compared to them. Özil, Eriksen, Payet, Courinho, even Mata who he was supposed to replace has been much better than him since leaving. We need production from that area next season.

Honestly might consider following a new sport if Branislav Ivanovic, Gary Cahill and Oscar are starters for my club. And also if I see Nemanja Matic stumbling across the pitch with his lanky legs all the way to the left corner flag and then stopping and losing the ball. I can't deal

Fix is Conte

Oscar must be sold. I have never known such an overrated player that only should be playing in a Championship side. Not keen on Cuadrado either. He had a decent season in Italy but I don't see any real qualities in him except his pace. Please don't get me started on Ivanovic. He alone is enough for me to stop watching our games due to excessive stress. I rather play see Conte play youth and invest in 3-6 quality players.

BBC-Antonio Conte: Chelsea's incoming boss feels 'stronger' after acquittal

Quote

Incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says he feels "stronger" after being cleared of any wrongdoing in a match-fixing scandal from 2011.

The 46-year-old, who will lead Italy at Euro 2016 next month before joining Chelsea, was accused of doing nothing to halt a scandal while boss of Siena.

But a judge in Cremona acquitted Conte because the accusations were baseless.

"Today finally draws a line under this ugly story," said Conte in a statement on his official Facebook page.

"Four years ago, a search of my house at 5am ushered in a nightmare period that at times I felt would go on forever.

"Those who stood by me, and who know me best, know how much I have struggled with the idea that my name might be associated with the shameful world of match-fixing."

In August 2012, while coach of Juventus, the former Italy international was banned for 10 months for not reporting alleged match-fixing in two games involving Siena in the 2010-11 season.

This was later reduced to four months by an Italian sports tribunal and Conte became coach of his national team in August 2014.

"I thank my family and the many people who never believed even for a moment the words which presented a false image of my lifestyle," he added.

"I am a sportsman and I know no other way to achieve success than through sacrifice and total dedication. It was a terrible experience and I have faced it head on.

"To all those who never doubted my honesty, I want to express my gratitude, and reassure them that I have emerged from this testing time as a stronger and more highly motivated person."

Interesting mention of Chalobah. Always thought he was worth a punt in the first team squad.

I'm just going to go straight into denial about the Oscar stuff though.

Nate needs a permanent transfer. Not good enough for the side we want to be.

Have a bad feeling. It seems Conte doesn't have a clue about Premier League. Every players we are linked are from Serie A, or players that were wanted by Serie A teams.

hey didn't read ya post, nice to meet you again with your same approach as ever. Every Manager likes to take his players with him at the beginning.Jose had a few Portuguese players himself when he arrived, ferreira, Tiago, Carvallho.Hilarious (I kno arrived in his last season if my mind doesn't fool me).... So I think its a common thing.

^ Ahh I see.

Yeah they are discouraging but that's what they are call rumors in the first place. They are just rumors for now.

Our horrible season just finished. Let's take a breath for now. lol

I reckon there'll be one player of Italy NT that we'll come to the Bridge this summer.

There is one of two ways Conte's Chelsea career is going to go.

He's either going to be a roaring success to the point it will be like having 2005 Jose back or he's going to be a complete disaster, there's going to be no inbetween with this guy, it's one or the other!!!

We were linked with just two Serie A players that's Nainggolan and Manolas ( DiMarzio) and DiMarzio is the only great source in Italy everythink else is terrible.
