I have become accustomed to shit on a stick football that we have been playing since 2010/11 season.Yet Arsenal play the beautiful game and win fuck all.Go and support them you one dimensional anti-Chelsea didierforever, The only place to be and Barbara
Styles 9,790
Fair enough. I imagine when Jose envisaged his team it didn't have Ramires and Luiz at the heart of it though. He wants players like Matic and maybe even Paulinho who actually have some talent on the ball.Paulinho is exactly the opposite of what we need. He's another Ramires. The kind of midfielder we sign to partner Matic + the other signings we make this summer will tell us a lot about Mourinho. We'll either try to become a better ball-playing team or just try to be more efficient counter-attackers. He was supposed to be an all-rounder, good in possession, strong defensively, had a few goals in him and even decent in the air. As a replacement for Mikel and Ramires and a third option behind Matic and hopefully a new signing then I'm not entirely against his signing. For my money he's certainly an upgrade on Ramires if you want to focus on being in possession and not chasing the ball.
Popular Post! Mr_President 404 Posted May 1, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted May 1, 2014 After the disapointment of yesterday's result I think some balance is needed. Thankfully the overwhelming majority of fans on here and IRL are not schizophrenic hyper-critical armchair fans that jump on Mourinho, Hazard, Oscar or whoever it may be after a disapointing result but then disappear after a fantastic result. Also, on that point, I cannot believe some people actually lambasted Hazard and blamed him for the defeat. If you get to a point where you rely on your best attacking player to also be flawless defensively then you are lost.On the game, I thought it was fairly even until the pen and then we started to chase the game which obviously played right into Atletico's hands. It should be remembered that Atletico aren't some mid-table team from an overrated league anymore, they are leading - and in a convincing manner - the strongest league in the world. We started the game with a Ramires and Luiz in midfield. Therein lies the big problem for me and a midfield of that combination will always mean we lack control and composure in the game. But what choice did Mourinho have? Lampard - Suspended. Mikel - Suspended. Matic - Ineligible. Van Ginkel - Out all season because of injury. Really, I'd love to hear the bashers' views: who could we have started in that midfield 2 that would have given us a better grip on the game? DL actually did a good job in the first half IMO but he is not CM. This season people have finally realised Ramires is not a top CM either (although he is a good player and has his uses). Clearly this is an area that needs strengthening in the summer and I'd argue it is almost as important as adding a striker. I think this midfield combination necessitated - at least in Mourinho's mind - a more defensive line-up (in the form of a back 5).That is not to say that Mourinho is absolved from any criticism. I'm sure he'll be the first to (not publically) criticise himself and analyse what he could do better. Our weaknesses have been glaringly obvious this season and I do think that part of it is down to the style we employ, but we only employ such a style because of the players that we currently have. To get as far as we have got in the CL and PL with the team we have (let's not forget, last season was a complete mess) is an achievement. I also believe (and hope) that Mourinho will be able to complete his puzzle in the summer which will mean we can see more expansive football when needed.Looking forward to next season. zolayes, The only place to be, darrus and 2 others

He's average on the ball and doesn't excel at any one thing, pretty much a jack of all trades and a master of none. We can and should do a hell of a lot better than him. Special Juan 28,869
Jose will have made notes on where it went wrong, he ain't that naive not to take things from it and learn. Everyone learn and put things right no matter the level that the person is at. He needs the second season and to build on what we have done this year. It was a masterstroke by getting Matic back, absolute steel of a price and he has been monumental for us. I also believe Jose is hugely pivotal in the form of John Terry, again back to hos 07-08 form, possibly even better. There is enough focus and scope for us to build something huge for next season starting with getting shot of a lot of on loan crap such as Marin and Moses. Funds can be raised through sales of certain players who must go, I don't need to spell out who that is, so that and transfers fees plus wages and we can really start spreading it wide in terms of the quality we need. At the right price he's a nice squad option. We should produce our squad players really. Then there are the likes of Van Ginkel who can fill in if needed. We have to stop wasting money on players like Paulinho that don't improve us significantly, in fact I'll go further and say every transfer this summer has to be a player that walks into the first 11. No more of this squad stuff, we have loads of players out on loan that can be recalled for that purpose.
