Sir Mikel OBE 4,920
I'm sorry but that post is even more laughable and sillier than the point you're trying to make. It's just generally flawed and myopic. He's world class. Not flawed at all. I still think Mata is better than Oscar, why is that so funny? Because Oscar scored a deflected goal? Oscar definitely has a higher ceiling and will most likely become the better player, but as of now Mata has been the better player, which is only natural as he is older. The fact that he came on and changed the game. A guy who already has a place came on and did more than guys fighting tooth and nail for theirs(Moura and Pato in particular)Hes world class. DanishBlue 426
well, he is atm. Mata isn't playing that much and Oscar has been better this season even in the games where Mata also played. But I don't care. They are both CFC players and they are both amazing to me. zolayes and Barbara

Fair points I expect more improvement from oscar despite his current performances(he should have scored twice today) but I expect even more improvement from mata as based on his current form mata isn't playing as good as schurrle yet never mind oscar. The only place to be 11,313
It's a funny thing....Mata is probably better than Oscar right now.But if we played Bayern or Real Madrid or Barcelona tomorrow, then I'd pick Oscar ahead of Mata every single time. Mata may well be the better player, but I think we're a better team with Oscar at this moment in time. Rmpr
Popular Post! Special Juan 28,141 Posted October 15, 2013 Popular Post! ChelseasMessiah 304
I just don't get this talent cannibalism we see here sometimes, how about we just cherish and enjoy both players as they are both wonderful talents in their own ways? They both play for us in the same starting 11, why are we acting like they are rivals of some sort Barbara, 1chelsea, zolayes and 4 others
Atlas Lion 1,223
Mata has performed well against Barca at Valencia. When playing under a system that is attacking and possession based. People fault his errors against Bayern, Juventus, etc. But one must remember we were playing in a system that contradicted his strengths, not because he is a supposed big game bottler. Just ask United about that Stingray, 1chelsea and DYC.

It's always comparative, bipolar, two camp ingroup/outgroup stuff .... as if we don't support a team wherein they both play and preferably flourish. kellzfresh, 1chelsea, bluesman2610 and 1 other
Barbara 15,149
Oscar scoring right and left is great business for us!!!!! Our strikers aren't enjoying the art of finishing into the net much these days, so keep it up when you come back, kiddo.I agree with everyone else that the comparison between Mata and Oscar is unhealthy here these days. It was relevant when they were competing for positions because our best player in recent years was warming the bench while a promising, but not exactly world-class player was filling his shoes. That's not the case anymore, Mata is getting better (sharper) and he's contributing to the team, although he's yet to find his best form. Having Oscar performing better than he did last year is actually good for us, but there shouldn't be two Chelsea FC sides here, one pro-Oscar, another pro-Mata because at the end of the day we need both of them playing their best to improve our titles chances.Oscar is better today (imo he is slightly better for us since Mata was back in the team), Mata was better for the majority of last season... I'd rather have both playing the form of their lives if it was up to me. ivanovic is better than Cole right well, as well as Ramires is better than Lamps imo or Torres better than Ba and Eto'o. So what? It's irrelevant at the end of the day who's in better form, as long as all of them perform well and we keep winning. zolayes

Korea 734
where is the cut off point for "world class"?Good question. I say like a team of 18 a year.... In recent years, the only players that should be in the world class status consistently are Messi, Cristiano, Iniesta, Lahm, Ribery, Falcao, Zlatan (maybe Cavani, RVP, Aguero, Muller) Kompany, Chilleni, Thiago Silva, Vidal (maybe Bastian), Ozil and Neuer....The only one young player I would consider "world class" was and is Alaba ( I guess at a time Gotze could be considered). Everyone else has ways to go to surpass the players ahead of them... Despiadado.Maleante
