KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
maicon is not a bad deal at all but there are better-younger rightbacks for the same price of 6m and lesser wages- (debuchy).Yes and none of them will want to be backup. Pizy 18,907
With only 2 weeks until the tour, I'm getting more and more anxious about these signings.Like others have said, Hazard was a brilliant start, but we NEED other world class or potentially world class players brought in in order to challenge City and the rest of Europe again.Arsenal have started spending and it looks more likely after his awful Euro showing that RvP will stay. Spuds have AVB and signed their first player with more to come very shortly. United will surely sign another player or two and City haven't even started their likely shopping spree. We need to get our squad assembled and settled as soon as possible. TheCount 146
IMO we could need someone like Hulk. He is an explosive player who has speed, strength and can bang in goals. He would kill two birds with one stone, that being a RW and a backup striker.40 odd million which is one figure being thrown around even 30 mill is a bit much for a player "we could" need tho i do agree strength wise he looks great as a premiership winger good and strong. Strike 7,489
What do u mean with "better"? Debuchy is not even close to be as good as Maicon is.Debuchy had a solid season at Lille and defended Young/Chamberlain with ease in a man of the match display against England. He has very good stamina and also is not an entirely attacking Rightback although he did supplement the French attack well. He is available at almost the same price as Maicon with presumably lesser wages than the 80k quoted for Maicon. Maicon is old and he will at best be a "Belletti" signing. So yes, Debuchy is Better in many ways than Maicon. edit: Also, Maicon has a shaky knee which has been surgically repaired more than once. he is no longer the maicon of 2009/10 when he was in the discussion of the best RB in the world

As a sub in the second half there wont be many better. Also we have youth coming through which hopefully can come through in a few years, though i am not exactly holding my breath.Though i could have sworn this was a Hulk thread. Ollie 4,400
If we don't sign Hulk, it's a big chance wasted and a huge fuck up imo. Nobody goes for what they're worth nowadays anyway, we have money, we have tradition, we have the Champions League trophy in our possession, we have many Portuguese speakers, slightly less now but still have our Brazilians. Just pay the money and fucking well get him. On a side note, i'd prefer Debuchy over Maicon all day. After seeing what Bale did to Maicon (twice) i never want to see Maicon anywhere near us. I'm aware of the season Debuchy had last season and he looked very competent in the Euro's and he's at a great age. It's not even worth thinking about that choice. but...This is the Hulk thread, i definitely would like to see Hulk come here.

If the young RB in question was in his early 20's, its a more realistic option to go for someone younger than Maicon. The club merely made this decision: Bosingwa as back-up or Maicon as back-up?
