Roman Abramovich Thread

It will be a disaster if that Turkish businessman takes the club and nobody will like Chelsea.
It's not like the THY advertisement we had a couple of seasons back, it's Turkish ownership and he 's not likely to stay out of political controversy - the way Abramovitch almost managed to do.
Turkey at present is a rogue state. They are excused of many thinks because of their important geographical position but it is a rogue state.

John Terry takes aim at Chris Bryant after being criticised by the Labour MP for paying tribute to outgoing Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine, highlighting his vote for the Iraq war and role in the 2009 expenses' scandal

I guess they are trying to make Russian people turn against Putin so they elect someone else but lets see how this will end.

What are you talking about? There are no elections in Russia. What you are referring to are staged and completely fixed theatrical performances for their people. Putin will die in office, best we can hope for is that it will be by assassination rather than age.

These sanctions are to make that happen much quicker.

Turkish businessman Muhsin Bayrak came forward yesterday announcing a bid for Chelsea. He stated that „soon we will wave the Turkish flag in London“. His bid was not taken serious by other competitors.

"I’ve contacted people in Turkey (about the Turkish business man with an interest in #Chelsea) - in the football world there and people at Turkish FA - they have not heard of this person. I don’t think serious people behave like that.”  The one thing that I would caution is that the names that are in the press often aren’t the ones who end up buying these teams, especially at this high level. Serious people tend to get their business done - and it’s just done.”

How is it fixed?

Isn't the official deadline to accept bids Mar 15th??

Doubt these papers have a real clue as to who the serious bidders are.

It does n't look like a straightforward link - more like a clickbait so I 'm not posting it.

Garbage human being IMO. He invested well into the club, and I'm sure their fans are happy about that.

Very different things.

Regardless of your opinion on oligarchs like Roaman, he will be toxic asset for years to come. It will make getting sponsors and deals very difficult for Chelsea.

Club needs to move on and I hope he sells -- even if the new owner isn't as willing to invest.

It is true that you bring down dictators on the streets not on elections and this may grow. Sanctions will hit Russian people hard.
