Re-watch the 1st game vs. Newcastle and watch him simply boss the entire midfield.

Don't just watch. See.

Haha.

I don't understand why you feel Fellaini would oust Romeu from the squad though. I see Fellaini as a replacement for Essien/Meireles more than Mikel/Romeu.

We are clearly building our team around a 4-2-3-1 formation to accommodate our forwards.

A 4-2-3-1 rarely allows for a box-to-box midfielder, which Essien is, so if Fellaini were to be an Essien replacement, we'd need to shift back to a 4-3-3, which won't be happening with our current attack.

So that would mean the money spent would be on someone being asked to play a role that they're not natural in; See Mikel.

Tell that to Yaya Toure.

And yes i'm aware you said 'rarely' before you go pointing that out.

Romeu continues to be overrated by our supporters.

Almost everyone tends to be overrated or underrated. It's the nature of this type of discussion. Either a player is amazing/world class/etc...or they're useless and need to be jettisoned immediately. Supporters often overreact to individual plays as well as small sample sizes. ("he made a bad pass, get rid of him" or "he looked great in this one game, he's amazing") The most overrated players tend to be players that haven't played yet at Chelsea. So, possible transfer targets and youngsters always get the "they're amazing" treatment because their ability is based on fleeting glimpses, youtube videos, a game or two, etc... Once players actually play regularly, it becomes obvious that they're flawed like 100% of players are. (and with youth players, it becomes obvious that they are almost never as good as the players they are replacing.) As for Romeu? Is he a fantastic, game-changing player? No, of course not. He's not remotely close to that, but it was a pretty good début season and he's still very young. I think he's fine as a backup DM.

Buying Fellaini will mean we are moving backwards,,,,, Not in terms of the quality of the player, but the fact that we are not giving any chance to some of europes best upcoming midfielders.... and buying one who is above average.... We need to breed some Chelsea Blooded Players to keep some sort of identity of the club.

I don't see how Fellaini would jeopardise Romeu's role. Romeu will be able to rotate with Mikel, while Lampard, Fellaini and Ramires (also rotating on the wing) rotate. He'd be a good signing especially if we can give Everton Lukaku or Josh or KDB on loan as Moyes is great with youngsters. Still would prefer modric though

We need a CM, a creative midfielder that is and not another CAM.

Dembele isn't a CAM. I suggest you go and watch some of Fulham's games this season as he operated mostly in a central midfield role, contributing to both attack and defence.

We don't desperately need a creative midfielder everyone talks about. We need someone who can recycle possession quickly and can also retain the ball well. Dembele fits that mould, not to mention he made the 2nd most successful tackles in the PL last season.

He would be ideal and cheap.

amen. dembele vs fellaini.....................................debele.

now we'd be the belgian/english/portugese speakin team (portugal and brazil) hahahahahahaha.

dembele also got best touch in epl, always holds possesion extremely well. he always gets by first man. just hopin he'd fix shootin as well as long balls seems to always want close safe pass.

Because there are only so many games to go around. If you play 50-60 games, that means there are 100-120 total games available for Mikel, Romeu, Lampard, Ramires, Essien, and Fellaini (with Meireles probably getting into some games too).It simply isn't enough game time for everyone even if Chelsea sold Essien. There is a balance between depth and guys being upset at not playing enough.

Really didn't get that bit

But anyway i don't see it as a problem. You need 5 players competing for that double pivot and with Ramires also being a backup RW that is virtually making it 4 players (Not counting Meireles). Also need to factor in that there is likely to be an injury at some stage too and i'd much rather see a Fellaini or Lampard come in as a replacement rather than Essien or Meireles

IF you have watched Fulham's matches this past season, you would realize that he plays in the CAM role a lot as well. Martin Jol have on many occasions play Dembele just behind the striker when he goes with 4-4-2.

Wouldn't quite agree with that. He may have played as a CM a lot but still see him more of a CAM type of player, a player that is similar to Mata and one who likes to get forward a lot. We need someone who can sit in that midfield move the ball from one side to the other, dictate the tempo etc like Scholes does at United. Players like Modric or even Cabaye fits the bill.
