bluephoenix 1,131
We also have...Cech - 29 Made more mistakes than we're used to seeingCole - No decent cover at left back 31Essien - 29, serious knee injuriesLampard - 33 Finally showing some inconsistencyDrogba - 33 Not the untouchable, unplayable player he once wasMikel - Doesn't seem to be the player we fought united forMalouda - 31 No explanation needed useless.Bosingwa - 29 can't defend can't crossFerreira - 32 Pretty much useless to us nowKalou - One of the worst players in our historyTerry 31 - Slow, not the player he once was, puts the club in the media spotlight for wrong reasonsAlex & Anelka - Both leaving, wrong attitudes this season. Now I'm not posting this to criticise the players, my point is ALL of these players played under Jose, many of them are on the wrong side of 30 & aren't the players they used to be, most of them need to move on or be given a lesser role at the club. A few new signings wont revitalise the whole team. Big changes are needed & that happens gradually. :goodpost: AVB needs time alot of it. Till then got to be patient. Like kez mentioned its hard to expect something extraordinary from this team.AVB is taking bold steps to ensure that those who are capable of producing quality football on the pitch among the players we have gets the nod for Starting 11. Patience is the key !
YankinBlue42 72
Content. We were a flawed team and have just begun a revolution into the future of Chelsea FC. We are about where I expected us to be. Our games against the top teams have been both good (City and Tottenham) and bad (Arsenal and United). We have unfortunately played a few bad games and dropped points to the likes of QPR and Wigan which is what you can't do if you want to win the Premier League. I'm excited to see who we look to buy in January. A few more pieces, a little more time, and we'll see a more consistent team emerge. Blue-in-me-Veins 4,067
Hells no am I content!! But we have to accept it, I mean I want Chelsea to win every game and dominate headlines but we're just going to prob deal with one year of Manchester footbal and watch the press build it up like they've never seen a title race before!! The only thing that I have really faulted avb with was the fact he gave EVERYONE a chance to prove themselves!! I mean he should have gotten rid of many more people and clearly put stamp on his team. (signings he wants and a few Porto natives) this would have made everyone look behind their back and less people would have been lost when he plays his high defensive line and pressure midfield. That's all I would have hoped he would have done in his first few months.
Naked Mole Rat 437
I'd be lying if I said I'm content with how things went so far. Things have turned out way worse than I had imagined in the beginning of the season, and my expectations weren't that high; I just wanted us to do a little better than last season, so around 2nd to 3rd place in the league. Even if we struggle, I never imagined we'd be around the same level as Liverpool and Arsenal, who are struggling by their own standards as well. And it wasn't even like we were unlucky or anything. We lost so many points due to our manager's stubbornness. I believe managers should have faith in their philosophy, but if something goes severely wrong, they have to be able to quickly reassess things and correct the problem. Villas-Boas didn't do that until that do-or-die game against Valencia, and if it was fair to criticize Carlo for lacking ideas, Villas-Boas needs to be criticized for being stubborn and delusional. There are many other things Villas-Boas have done that don't satisfy me although I have to say that his ability to assess players is superb as he's demonstrated in the transfer window. So yeah, Villas-Boas is one aspect of the team that doesn't satisfy me.Another aspect of the team that's really disappointed me is the team's attitude. As we all know, we've struggled against big sides this season, which means it's become ever so important to do well against weaker sides. But, it seems like some of our players think that even in the midst of the worst run in a decade or so, they can afford to be complacent against weaker sides. This is obviously nothing new, as we've always had this sort of problem. Nonetheless, this is what makes me think that although we've always managed to do okay even when we struggle (in other words, a spot in the CL) perhaps this can be the season where everything falls apart for us. Ramzi 233
I'm content, AVB has to deal with the shell of players that were the center point of our success with our previous managers, he can't just dump legends like Lampard, Drogba, Terry, Cole, and Cech because, 1.) They can still help the team in many way and 2.) Our fans would have his head if he were to do something like that.
Blue Armour 4,448
I don't care about the PL title...Now, I would no doubt love to win it this season after all the adversities we've faced, but for now I'm just happy that we're still mathematically in it and our team still has some sort of desire in it, even if the results don't show it.Yesterdays game was proof of that, and it was truly a bloody good game we played. After the opening 30 minutes I thought Spurs were going walk all over us, and I seriously thought our goose was cooked when Ivanovic came off,...but what I saw after that showed me that this team can still achieve something great this season even if it isn't in the form a treble of titles... teignman 441
I think this is a very good topic, a way to check the pulse of the forum members.Anyway, I wouldn't say that I'm content. However, I am cognizant of the fact that we are in the midst of changing the guards. I think we have the right manager, though he still has a bit of learning to do, to lead us into sustained success in the years to come. We all knew, prior to AVB's arrival, that the squad was deteriorating and very little was being done to rejuvenate it. We seem to have started to remedy this situation in the last window. Hopefully, we continue along this path in the market come January. At present, the most important thing to me is finishing 3rd in the PL. I don't think it's realistic to think we will challenge for the league or the CL this season. I'm not happy about it, but I will maintain a positive outlook so long as we continue to get top quality, young, reasonably priced talent into our squad and the era of the vanity transfer (Torres, Sheva) is over. Tomo 21,751
I think we need to get some prespective into this. This time last year we would have given anything for Danny to be given a chance and to have a player like Mata. This time last year we would have given anything for Malouda, Kalou and Anelka to be out of the team more often than not and now they are.One step at a time hey, anyone who thinks we are in a worse position than this time last year is mental, unless you want us to drop Danny and Mata to bring back in Malouda and Anelka? CHOULO19 24,332
I am content. Of course there are some "what if"s as there always is, but this is where I expected us to be by now. Can't hope for anything more with our current squad.
francozola 2,040
I don't know how anyone can think that we are worst off than at this point last year. Do you guys remember how awful last season was? apart from that two month resurgence in March-April. And lol suddenly people think Carlo was such a mastermind. The same Carlo that didn't have a plan B all season long?! Don't get me wrong, the blame lies with the players but he didn't change anything at all. AVB is showing signs of allowing his ideas to be changed if they benefit the team.
lecter 84
I know this is off topic, but may I know why/how Henrique supports CFC? I have almost never seen him backing up the team/manager/players when things are not flying! Forgive me if I am somehow wrong in this observation! And btw, I am content with what I have seen from AVB and CFC. Yes, there could have been more but then is that not always the case?! I think we are on the right course, which in no way can describe my feeling about the team last year. Not even in the great run of Mar/Apr. Peace. 4,352
If you think we should have achieved way better, then it means that you still don't have realized that our squad is average.

I have almost never seen him backing up the team/manager/players when things are not flying! Forgive me if I am somehow wrong in this observation!I think he is just a very pessimistic and cynical person. No offence (of course) to you Henrique, I don't want to be belligerent with you.I'm not content with the results the club has found these last few months, but I am content with AVB and the direction everything seems to heading. Laylabelle 9,536
Im content.Had some mega dodgy performances but then those seem to be cancelled out by some not so...As for AVB doing a pretty good job considering..made some mistakes but end of the day he's young and will learn from them and when he get it right it works so well!!! And doing what we've been after for ages..getting rid of the old and bringing in the young and all...Gana take time was never gana happen stright away but hopfully we can go on in a good way and all...and actually get some stablity and a chance for a Manager to make the team his own

Kostas 1,468
Content is probably the best word I could use. Sure result-wise we should and could have had 10 points more but our football is no-where near as hopeless as it was last season and I see a change undergoing that should have happened 2 years ago.My main concern regarding AVB is whether or not will, in the long run, continue being firm (or naive as some would say) regarding the change in the style of play he wants to introduce. All great managers are tactical chameleons and there are times where results are of pivotal importance (Valencia) but having second-thoughts or changes of heart mid-season is not what is expected of a manager at this level. bababoom 4,478
I don't know why people are slamming AVB, yes he made some mistakes but he's learned from them. I don't know any manager who can come in to our club and suddenly make us play great football with the players we have, AVB is trying to do that but we have to give him time. He hasn't really had a full transfer window because for a large portion of it he was evaluating our team. How long has it been since one of our mangers consistently dropped one of our 'big' players? A long time. At least he's shown us he has balls. Also if we still had Carlo we would still be playing the likes of Malouda, Kalou, Anelka... At least AVB recognised their not good enough to be in our starting line up.So far he's brought in great players, no doubt he will bring in more this Transfer window.Overall, i think we shouldn't be writing him off already, we all want a transition, that doesn't happen in one day, it takes time. themightyblue 443
One of the differences you see between Avb and carlo, is that Carlo said that he was going to bring pirlo to play DM, Avb brought in Romeu. Carlo wanted to bring in Pedro Leon for the wings and Avb brought us Mata. He's doing well
