The point wasn't how much we will get for Mata if we were to sell him to PSG (though logically it would be in the range of 30mil). The point was - why should PSG sell him to Utd? He would stay there for 2-3 years, he will be 28-29 and still a good player but certainly not someone to spearhead Utd out of this crisis if they haven't already climbed out of it already. If something like this were to happen we ought to -in a sense- be thinking short term, we can't predict what will happen in years to come.

One should ask how stupid can you be to turn a player who was 1st/2nd best playemaker in the world, one of best Pl players of past two years and club best player in 2 years into bench warmer in just couple months.

Fuck it if he doesnt fit perfectly to Mourinho style. He is #10 and if he was given the chance, he would take it. Mata should be given 5 games in row in his position and then we would see if he is good or not. Back in september when things werent that fucked up. But Jose is stuborn and thinks only of team instant success.

Good example is Rooney who was nearly out last year from united, but proved to be team best player. Mata would probably do the same if he actualy got regular playtime as #10.

but most of those players are way better suited for ManUtd than Mata is. If they decide for Mata over them, then good for us twice, not only we'll get a lot of money for him, but ManUtd won't even improve as they could going for really fast players, that play their best in the wing - where ManUtd have been building their system for many years now. Mata is technically better than those guys imo, but way less fitting to ManUtd system, so if selling Mata to them will prevent them from getting Reus, Draxler or di María, it'd only give me more reasons to ship Mata there. And that's coming from someone that isn't that comfortable selling them any players...

all your post is on the assumption that mata is not suited for united more than these "fast players" and i disagree. more than wing players, united right now need some1 who can give them control of the match and the ball. they got beat at it by hull, norwich and swansea (with all due respect).

4) Utd have better strikers that will bring out the best in mata as a playmaker

5) The fact that he will likely be a regular starter (no one pays £40m for a benchwarmer) means he will have enough games and minute to regain his full confidence and form and I wouldn't want to face a confident and fully in form mata.

One is that you could use Rami on the wing. The second is to use the 433. We're talking about suffering TWO injuries to Willian, Hazard, Oscar and Schurrle. Realistically if that happens then we're in trouble whether we have Mata or not. I'd still be inclined not to use Mata if that happened though and maintain the fast-paced pressing game by using Ramires who has the athleticism required.

Ramires is an option on the RW but I would rather us not go there. We know how literally ineffective he can be out wide and won't take long before we all go bitching about it, again. As for the other 4, yes if one gets injured then we can play 4-3-3 to compensate but there will be only 3 AMs in 2 position and we can't overplay 1 or the other, can we? There's gonna be an issue in managing them to make they are not flogged to death and with just 3, there's a higher risk for the next one to get injured, hypothetically. Obviously, this won't be an issue if we get KOed early from the cup competitions but if not, then yeah..

We also cant assume that Mata would make them rise. Its one thing if Mata was an uber CM, than I would agree. However, like Chelsea, mata doesnt really fit Moyes and United under their current scheme and players.
