Juan Mata

Here's a question we did not ask ourselves: Would united even want Mata?

They play with traditional wingers; they always have. Their system doesn't include 'modern' attacking midfielders. Just look at how Kagawa has struggled there because the system is not built to suite a player like him. The only reason I can see them interested in Mata is to play that second striker role, but even there they usually have a bit more 'physical' players.

Mata is a 20/25 a season player. He would walk into their team.

Ridiculous question.

It's like saying Xavi or Iniesta wouldn't get into their team because they're finesse players for instance.

Mata is a 15-goals 20-assist player here at Chelsea where our whole system is built around AMs. Of course a player's compatibility with a team's system affects greatly his effectiveness. Would Messi get half the goals he usually does at Stoke?

mata CAN play on the wing but i think so can ramires, infact rambo's best moment of his career probably came as a right-back, but it does not mean we should play him there. mata is a CAM and MOST efficient in the center of the pitch. when we play him on the wings, we have absolutely no true width in our play. we simply cant stretch teams and everything is just too narrow and most of the time easy to defend.

Mirror linking Mata to Arsenal http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/arsenal-line-up-juan-mata-2218348?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Man, it must be so easy to become a journalist in the UK

I was saying that to myself, too. Putting out shit on a daily basis and getting paid is not even possible in Austria, and THAT's quite something.

Jose better make this 'Oscar in the pivot' thing work, cause i can't even contemplate the idea of mata leaving us for united or arse :mouthclosed:

Trust me, it will if Oscar is motivated and willing. I remember how he bossed the DM position, along with Mikel I think, in the COC game against Leeds. It's also pleasurable because he likes to challenge anyone defensively no matter how big they are compared to him, and still helps out in attack when he gets the ball.
