at the pace we are working, I expect Lukaku to be Chelsea player it in early September and Kounde in late November

and we can leave them for January

No worries. He was in Monaco today to sign contract extension with his agent while Chelsea was finalizing paperworks together with Inter. Tomorrow he will be in London to sign his contract and official announcement will be made on Thursday or Friday this week.

He's in London within the hour. All sealed tonight.

Now after the Supercup victory, can those who actually watched Lukaku see the difference/positive side he is going to bring to the team? Will he help us when we are dominating possession and the opposition are digging deep? Will he help us in the moments we suffered against Villareal? I did not watch him in the last couple of years so this is a genuine question.

Honestly, if he had arrived on his inter form he would have had a field day today, Villareal had moments when they were super open but Timo just got bullied off the ball. that will not happen with Lukaku. But there will be plenty of moments were Lukaku will be just as frustrating as Tammy or Timo.

2 things i think he will help us with is a) be more clinical on the counter. He can run with the ball at pace and go past defenders without being shoved off it. This will enable us to play out counter attacks way more direclty

b) fix long balls in attack. we lose a lot of rebounds and 2nd balls. lukaku is good with his back to the defender and this will open space for our players to latch onto the rebounds.

I dont think he is worth what we paid for him but in games such as today, he might be clutch. That is provided the pressure is not too much for him and he does not completely shit it like our last 2 big money strikers.

30 minutes against Palace, then?

Would be ideal for him going forward if he bangs in the winner

On the other hand if he does nothing and hits a few howlers and we lose the game, The club will probably be totally deflated!

I've always been cautious on debuts for players in attacking positions, ever since Torres, I thought we killed his confidence right from the off on that one, I understand there were other issues with Torres, but I don't think it helped matters.

Spot on. Fully agree.

Been some talk today that he might have to quarantine till Monday, so if that's the case then Palace is definitely out of the question.
