By not playing him, we're just denting his confidence and motivation. Sure, he might have a few miserable games as a Chelsea striker...and the media will give him stick...but he won't improve as a player and fulfil all that potential by sitting on the bench and playing in 'selected' games... I don't see the reason behind protecting him...if Jose feels he isn't ready...i'm sure there would be a whole line of clubs willing to take him on loan for another season.
-
I think fans are blowing this out of proportion, bringing up terms such as loyalty and being plastic. The likelihood of Mata being sold is basically zero...so let's wait and see how Jose moulds his team this season. We'll find out by the end of this season how highly Jose rates Mata. Even if we end up bidding for Rooney, we surely wouldn't be stupid enough to hand them Mata as part of the deal?
-
We've played two official matches and fans are already worried about Mou..just because of this whole Mata situation... Losing Mata to a non-English club would hurt but certain fans are acting like it would be the end of the world. He's not untouchable...but really, there's no way we would be stupid enough to give him to ManU.
-
Even though I agree with your point...Oscar should be in our strongest starting lineup.
-
What the hell does Cech have to do with Mata? It's not like Mata is untouchable...as long as we find quality replacements.
-
If Romeu goes on loan..then that means we'll most likely sign a new CM/DM!
-
I don't see how Rooney would be better in this team...people are hoping that Mourinho will make him play like a 30 goal a season striker...but there's every chance he becomes a flop like Torres at Chelsea. It would be a massive risk bringing someone like Rooney to this football club...it could tarnish the club's image and he might not even get along with our key players
-
It rules out City cause they already have quality first choice strikers in Aguero & Tevez. I don't think it rules us out..because even if we rotate him, he would get more starts than Ba/Torres or Lukaku next season. I just don't see how he fits in at Napoli...to be honest, they'd be better off signing Torres over Gomez. I think Gomez will end up signing for Fiorentina.
-
this sounds too good to be true. I just don't see it happening.
-
They do have quality footballers in Africa...as shown by Ghana's strong presence at the last WC. But from what i've seen, the AFCON competition is slightly more relaxed in comparison to the PL, UCL, WC....and that's part of the reason why players like Yaya, Eto'o don't show their full ability. Full credit to Nigeria though, they picked the right tactical system for a fairly young group of players and they showed consistency throughout the competition.
-
I always support youngsters but Josh isn't gonna make it at Chelsea At best, he'll end up as a squad player like Bertrand..making the odd appearance when others are injured.
-
Well said. Personally, if we can get Mikel playing like he does for Nigeria...we'll have more variety in midfield and it might actually help youngsters like Aké, Chalobah as there would be less pressure on them to perform straight-away..

Best Formation for current Chelsea Squad?

We could use something like: Rambo ---- Oscar -------- Mata ------ KDB ----Striker-----Hazard -
Fair point..but I'd hate to see us settle for Gomez...whilst City gets Cavani.
-
Unfortunately...I don't see Mourinho selling Mikel. As for loanees coming back...Lukaku (even if we sign Cavani...Lukaku can be an effective player off the bench against tiring defenders) and KdB should be with the team..... then the following season, we can consider bringing back Courtois & Chalobah..
-
Exactly...let's sign Cavani + a new CB (Mangala)...then worry about midfield depth for next season.
-
Hopefully the Boateng deal falls through...we don't need him :blue scalf:
-
It's obvious that Cavani wanted a move to a bigger league (eg PL with Chelsea/City or La Liga with Madrid)...and anyway, moving to PSG would be a step down.
-
makes sense...5 million in Cash + Di Maria (15 mil) + Higuain (15 mil) + Coentrao (15 mil)...basically equals Cavani's release clause. But highly doubt Madrid would give up 3 class players for Cavani..
-
Let's just sell Torres & Ba..cause at the end of the day, Ba is at best a 15 goal a season striker...and Torres..well he just needs to leave. Then our forwards for next season could be: Cavani, Lukaku, Schurrle.
-
We didn't lose Falcao... He was worth 30-35 million..and only Monaco wanted to pay 50 million for him.
-
Alot of players were underperforming with Mancini in charge... Javi Garcia under the right manager is a top-class DM...as for Rodwell..he's always had the raw skills to be a classy midfielder (kind of like Chelsea's McEachran)...but due to injuries/other factors, his development stalled and he hasn't looked close to fulfilling the potential..
-
not worth the amount Madrid wanna pay & I would love to see him flop in Spanish La Liga.
-
I'd take McCarthy..perfect replacement for Turnbull.
-
Don't think they'll be a dominant force under Pellegrini.. But they'll be a better attacking team next season.
