People would rather have Torres, Lukaku and Ba over Torres, Lukaku and Rooney?

:clown: 's

Yes, simply because that would mean Rooney would take ALOT of playtime away from lukaku. If it were to be Rooney, Lukaku and Ba, the story would be different though.

Any reliable source for this?

Nope. If there was, twitter or this place would be going absolutely nuts.

If you have to question whether a news as big as this comes from a reliable source, the answer is most likely a no.

Rooney can be deployed deeper if needed so in a round about way he won't hinder Lukaku as much as everyone thinks.

Think about it.

lukaku's development cant be the PRIMARY concern of the club. with rooney we become the favourites to win the PL, put a challenge for CL.

Deeper and play instead of who exactly? Mata? Hazard? Oscar? KDB? Chelsea are chasing Rooney to be their #1 striker and while his flexibility helps, he'd see almost all of his time in the #9 spot, We have excellent depth and skill in attack as is and a number of players who can play in the #10 sort of role already. We just don't have a top-class striker and Rooney is one.

Mourinho is manager though. He isn't afraid to bench bug names who doesn't deserve to start.

Sure they will all get chances, and it wouldn't help Lukaku's playing time having another striker coming in.

But it's a long season, and he can still have a very big role. I really think Mourinho will be able to see that he is our second best striker (if rooney comes) and act accordingly.

He is still young, and improving he doesn't have to be no. 1 playing every game, even though I think he could do that job well for us if the bid for rooney falls through.

I think he means that on top of the occasional game against lesser teams where mata and hazard might be rested, lukaku can come on to make an impact and kind of play alongside rooney (just in front of him), if we want to come out in the second half more attacking or whatever.

Unlike the situation now, where if we want to put another striker on, it has to be a like for like swap or we actually have to play 4-4-2.

With rooney, we could play similarly but slot rooney alongside mata, and let him make runs of the striker.

But yeah, of course primarily it is to fill the void we have at striker.

Chelsea are plotting a £40m bid for Wayne Rooney (Telegraph) #CFC #MUFC

telegraph seems to get more and more unreliable.

Can't find any Telegraph article that states that.

£40m is a bit too steep though.

Furthest I'd go is £30m + potential add-ons.

At this point I don't even give a shit what we pay for him. I would do just about anything to see Rooney score the winner in a blue shirt against United in that second match.

If Jose wants him as badly as it seems he does, I wish we'd stop pissing around with bids we know will be rejected. Rooney is a player who'll need a good preseason to get I'm ready. If we're gonna buy him it needs to be soon so he can get started with the team. It's already gonna be hard enough with all of the attention he'd get.
