Fernando 6,585
Unfortunately, each of the 4 strikers we have now is not or not yet in the same level with each of those big 3, and that makes some of Chelsea fans worried we can't compete strongly in 4 competitions. With all due respect, we will not get the best option out there, if we have to sold first. Market went crazy now.And that's why for Mourinho he wont win big this season. Cause he knows it will be hard because of the strikers we got.We will stay with what we got till someone is sold. As simple as that. edenhazard17
Mouri_Matic 560
This is not just about improving our team but also it is a statement of intent. Since when do we start to back out of first class players because we can't afford their fee? And because if we don't, some other team out there will probably pay it for him so that mean we are losing out and HE IS NOT OVERPRICED. Base on the market today he is WORTH AT LEAST £40M anyway, so £53m is not even that much overpriced, I understand if he is some unproven player or just a one hit wonder or just play in a shitty league like Hulk last summer. BUT NO, THIS IS ONE OF THE TOP GOAL SCORER IN EUROPE. Behind Messi and Ronaldo and I think Falcao. Well Messi we will never get, same with Ronaldo, Falcao already gone so we are left with the 4th best attacker in Europe, possibly the world atm and we think £50m is overpriced. How much do you think he is worth then? £20m?
Mouri_Matic 560
Our fan's mentality is changing which is not good enough. I bet most of you will still be happy if we don't win the CL or even come close to win them in the next 2-3 years if we continue to win FA Cup each year. Since when did we have this lay back attitude? We always go for the best and if it fail then we settle for second, not we settle for second because we can't get the best. We aren't even trying. Not a mentality change. Just a logic change. With FFP coming in we can't just buy everyone we want. We need to buy in other positions as well. Our squad is very talented. We need a striker (If is cavani, then great), if not then we have other options. The only place to be

We are not buying 11 new players, we are buying 1-2 top class players. We got enough youngsters and older experience players to help them, now we need 1-2 world class proven player. You forgot the BPL deal? And shit load of other sponsors which we just signed up recently. And Asia tour soon which will fed us millions of £$. Like I said we only need 1-2 and yes striker and a CDM. The frustrate thing is we are nearly there, nearly but then the board just gave up when we just need to go that little extra mile. Another annoying this is we can actually afford him and his whole clause but we decide to bid up to 85% then give up when we only to make it 15% more. Mouri_Matic 560
The only positive thing that will happen if this transfer fail to be completed is that we might sign a new player like Mata like when we missed out on Modric 2 years ago. Even then the chance is not big, 2nd option is unlikely to be better than 1st except in a few case.

Ive never been his biggest fan but he undeniably improved last season, albeit his league goal ratio was very poor. If we brought in a top top striker as well as keeping torres and lukaku I could not complain and if torres buys into joses mentality theres every chance that could happen.Edit, sorry that was a bit of a derail there BlueLion., Miguelito, SinineUltra and 4 others

That laid-back attitude you talk about was about before Daddy Roman came along and people became spoilt by success. You talk about £53 million like it's nothing. Read up on financial fair play, it'll explain why quite a lot of us aren't willing to spend such obscene amounts of money when we already have £102 million worth of attacking talent in Moses, Schurrle, Torres, Ba and Lukaku already at the club. As simple as that. That's not how a big club is run. clubs with less money do it because they often need to raise cash by selling before they buy but big clubs that are going for big targets need to buy them as soon as they can, before their target's are bought by other teams. We'll be able to offload some players later and likely easier once their replacements are brought in...most players have more dignity than Malouda and would rather leave than just claim wages for nothing. So what you going to do?Have two strikers that cost 50 mill each? Ridicules! We will get like City buying strikers left and right when we are stack. We got Lukaku he is coming back, we just bought Schurrle who can also play a striker. We got Ba in winter, who definitely deserves more of a chance then what he got. And as explained Torres. How do I explained that we are stack? We are not even looking to offload for crying out loud!
