I’d prefer a quick, highly technical striker like Alvarez personally than a more classic “big man” striker like Sesko. Sesko is by no means a slow, lumbering Andy Carroll or anything but I think our squad would function better with a more mobile and versatile striker.

If neither Sesko or Alvarez happen and they either stay or go elsewhere we’re kinda fucked. We’re then taking a massive gamble on some youngster or  a guy who did well at some small club.

I’d be open to us  fleecing a bunch of attacking players - lukaku , Sterling and even some of the younger ones like madueke and gallagher If it mean signing both Alvarez and sesko. I think they’d be ideal together

If all the primary options fail maybe we hide our time and play Nkunku as a false 9 and wait until January to assess our options. I’d almost prefer that to us gambling on that youngster from Villa we keep getting linked with for example.

It would be great if we had some clarity on the Olise situation. Did he reject us last season, or was it simply due to the legal stuff that prevented him coming here? 

I think he is the better talent/more impactful player compared to Alvarez and cheaper. Just don't know if he wants to be here, and his recent hamstring stuff this last season isn't the most reassuring thing.

Olise a better talent and more impactful player than Alvarez? Not a chance. 

City didn’t have the best start at the beginning of the season but Alvarez stepped into the void left by KdB who was injured, racking up like 15 goal involvements in his first 20 games. This whilst playing upfront instead of Haaland when he was injured, in tandem with Haaland as a 10 or off the right.

Still doubtful Pep will let him leave or he would want to leave City as I think he has underlined his huge importance to them but if he were available and wanted to come here, we should be all over him. Never mind Olise. Yes Alvarez is not an out and out tradition number 9 but certainly someone who can play that role still to huge effect. Has real ability to get in behind teams and find space whilst also being able to link up nicely with others.

Paris Saint-Germain are pursuing Man City’s Julian Alvarez ahead of the 2024/25 campaign with the Ligue 1 champions ready to offer the World Cup winner a long-term deal.

The French giants parted ways with Kylian Mbappe this summer and the superstar’s departure has freed up a lot of funds in Paris as they set about trying to replace the new Real Madrid man.

Sources have told CaughtOffside that PSG have met with the representatives of Man City‘s Alvarez and have informed them that they want to make the Argentina international a priority signing during the upcoming transfer window.

The Ligue 1 champions plan to offer the 24-year-old a long-term contract until 2029, but they will find it difficult to convince Man City to allow the forward to leave the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola wants to keep Alvarez for the 2024/25 campaign having been a key player for the Premier League champions this season. Alvarez featured in 54 matches for the Spaniard’s team, scoring 19 goals alongside 13 assists.

The Argentine is believed to be happy at Man City and will not demand to leave despite recent rumours.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is a player that is very much in demand at the moment.

It’s believed that as many as seven clubs are interested in the 21-year-old’s services, meaning that he clearly has a big decision to make.

At such a young age, there’s a reasonable argument to be made that he could, and perhaps should continue his footballing education at his current club.

Benjamin Sesko is a player in demand

There appears to a tendency in football these days for young players to make the leap to supposed ‘bigger’ clubs as soon as possible, when perhaps it is detrimental to their long-term careers.

If they’re good enough, the opportunities will still be there two or three years hence.

One can even point to Kylian Mbappe’s time at Paris Saint-Germain and the fact he extended that for a couple of years more than everyone thought he would, moving to Real Madrid at just the right time and when he was ready to do so.

With a new manager in charge at Chelsea, the contract situations of Raheem Sterling and his team-mates will be brought into sharp focus.

Owner, Todd Boehly, has made a real splash since buying the club from Roman Abramovich, but as yet it has failed to yield any type of success.

“The strikers market is slowing entering important weeks and things will happen in June, but someone who is not planning to make a move at least as of now is Raheem Sterling,” Fabrizio Romano said to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing.

“He isn’t leaving Chelsea and joining Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahçe, even if the Turkish club are willing to make very good investments for the Portuguese manager.

Given that his release clause is believed to be as high as £100m, that may be putting potential suitors off, despite Guimaraes showing that he’d be worth every penny.

Release clauses now appear to be a regular part of contract negotiations in the modern game, with agents clearly advising their clients as to their insertion, given that other opportunities could reveal themselves in the future and without a release clause, the player would be forced to stay put, even against his will.

Bruno Guimaraes is reportedly happy in Newcastle, and so the next two weeks will be an interesting time indeed.

Is there any truth to these Nkunku rumours about him leaving Chelsea?

Rumours from Germany are circulating about the possibility of Nkunku leaving Chelsea this summer

Many rumours in the recent hours about the future of Christopher Nkunku, some rumours coming from Germany about the possibility for Christopher Nkunku to leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window, about him receiving some important proposals and maybe try a new experience.

What I can say is that according to my information, there is absolutely nothing concrete into it.

The idea at Chelsea is very clear, it is to continue with Nkunku and Nkunku is also thinking about performing and succeeding at Chelsea, so not planning to leave the club in this summer transfer window.

Christopher Nkunku knows that his first season was really unlucky in terms of injury, also Chelsea are still waiting to see the best of the player they signed last year.

And so I don't anticipate or expect any change, any transfer in the summer. I see Christopher Nkunku staying at Chelsea and being part of the project next season.
