Mhsc 1,146
I would be happy with Alvarez personally but equally top players are being unearthed all the time and City picked him up for like £15m not long ago, the club should absolutely be able to do likewise without going after a big name signing from the PL winners. Happy if it happens and feel like people here are really underselling how good he is, but you just know there is some guy available for <£30m who none of us really know anything about right now but the club with everything they've invested in scouting absolutely should. Joe Shields has already proven he can do it.

You would think that Ederson would be absolute priority #1. But it seems the club is fine with what we have. Why would Ederson move here? The only links for him were from Saudi league, which was to get a nice retirement fund (even KDB said the same thing recently, he would consider going there for a year or two). Because he’s only 30 and still one of the best in the world? Retiring to the Saudi league when you’re at or near the top of your game and still young for a keeper is nuts to me. Going there when you’re 36 or something is understandable. But he’s still got 5 years of top level play left easily before he can sail into the sunset and earn the Saudi millions. Alvarez could start in RW improving our attack tenfold--he's a far better footballer than Noni, and fairly different too, which would provide different options. IMO Alvarez numbers don't matter a whole lot given how and where he played. There is no on/off switch and repetition is key to everything in football. He is really good on the ball, and we don't have enough players like that in the team. Isn't the new manager going to implement a more possession oriented style? If so, then Alvarez is pretty much a perfect fit for that. We've spent so much money on unknown players coming from different leagues, which makes the reported fee really nothing compared to the gambling we've been doing -- not to mention Fofana which made no sense whatsoever. Pretty much a bargain compared to Mudryk too. heh. Foden has been extremely inconsistent for both City and England; let's see the Euros, but I'm starting to think his ceiling just isn't that high. The manager will implement a more possession based side, but ultimately we want to score goals and while Alvarez may be a goof fit for that, he just isn't the guy we need for our no.9, how I see it. We want a CF to score goals. I feel we need a target man kind of striker who is good in the air, can hold up the ball and score. Alvarez wiill not do that. Like I say for me, Alvarez is best suited when playing off a target man. 53 minutes ago, Pizy said: It’s kind of crazy that perhaps the best ball playing keeper in the world is apparently ready to leave their club, we are in desperate need for a ball playing keeper for our new manager, and yet there isn’t even a peep about us being interested. Either be another European league or Saudi. Would not make any sense for him to from City to us with all respect.

Beorn 11
I like alvarez. We should fill the team with young ballers from Spain , Italy , Portugal and Latin America. We have a bunch already. Will be tough for the more direct , less technically competent guys like Mudryk to contribute positively in the new system

Closer to desperation as the Maatsen & Chalobah summer deal’s didn’t happen although the terms work out favourably for now with the hotel ownership. But we won’t be able to pull a stunt like that again, similarly with the 8 year contracts. If the club didn’t make the unnecessary signings like Ugochukwu & Washington as well as not overspending on several players wouldn’t have been an issue in the first place though. All the uncertainty around FFP and PSR has been self inflicted by absolute stupidity in the market. But was the same when we signed Enzo, Caicedo and Lavia in 2 windows. Or the whole net spend shit last summer. Apparently he was a genius then. They are far from from it, same with the co-sporting directors. Pedro Lima signing when he have Reece and Malo. Sigh. Also Ederson? Here? Not a chance. More chance Lukaku starts as our number 9 next season than we sign Ederson. Don’t disagree that he’s not a leading 9, but I am suggesting not to use him as such and still go for a target man to rotate (w Jackson) as needed. alvarez would make that right side much stronger, which is a win regardless who plays #9. Noni isn’t starting material if we want to become competitive again, so that’s where I think he’d work. Also provide cover for Palmer. i can certainly imagine Palmer and him working really well together. Edited June 8, 2024 by robsblubot
Mhsc 1,146
What we gonna do with Pedro Lima if that rumour is true? I mean, as soon as Reece James is in his next 10 month injury career break we'll probably be glad to have him as an option at RB, but can he play another position like RW? Magic Lamps 11,692
Lima is 17. He will be loaned out and sold for profit. Probably will only ever enter cobham once and with a visitor badge bigbluewillie

Pizy 19,280
I’d prefer a quick, highly technical striker like Alvarez personally than a more classic “big man” striker like Sesko. Sesko is by no means a slow, lumbering Andy Carroll or anything but I think our squad would function better with a more mobile and versatile striker. Mário César 1,483
alvarez is more expensive but if Psg want him probably we won't get him for obvious reasons lets wait to seee what will happen but Im not too confident about both sesko and alvarez deals
Pizy 19,280
If neither Sesko or Alvarez happen and they either stay or go elsewhere we’re kinda fucked. We’re then taking a massive gamble on some youngster or a guy who did well at some small club.

Beorn 11
I’d be open to us fleecing a bunch of attacking players - lukaku , Sterling and even some of the younger ones like madueke and gallagher If it mean signing both Alvarez and sesko. I think they’d be ideal together Edited June 8, 2024 by Beorn
