If you see the video showcasing the tactics of McKenna it discusses the impact of Hutchinson and shows his role and heatmap. he was more of a left sided winger or even a second striker. Not saying he is ready for us but he can’t be any worse than Mudryk has been, slightly different positions but surely the manager could give him a run out in pre season and see what he’s got. The McKenna links were odd too. It’s almost as if the co-sporting directors are doing everything on impulse/making it up as they go along. Club wanted Poch, was the number 1 target, a year later he’s out. Then it was basically every name from Thomas Tuchel to Kieran McKenna. Then it was Enzo Maresca. It was very reminiscent of when Todd was giving it billy big bollocks and basically trying to sign every player under the sun when he was acting sporting director. Scattergun approach. I'm in 2 minds ATM about the appointment, if there intention is to wait a few season and build a proper team from youth then I can completely get onboard with this, but just say it, don't act Asif we are going for top 4 and trophies all the time because it's probably out of our reach ATM, but I agree poch signing was strange then to go after a season and give enzo 3 more years on a contact than poch, really makes me feel poch was always a stop gap. Pizy 19,250
Whichever striker we get is probably going to be yet another young talent that’s going to need time to settle in and will be inconsistent in their first season much like Nico Jackson was this past one. There really isn’t that RvP/Haaland/Diego Costa sort of striker that you are 100% convinced will be the final piece for your team and score 20 or more instantly. So hopefully whichever scout convinced the club that we needed Cole Palmer is the one who picks out our new striker.
Clockwork 1,794
Wasen't there a lot of reports that Pochitino believed Kepa last summer, and we know how that turned out. Sanchez didn't work out under De Zerbi because he didn't like his ability on the ball, not sure why it would different under Maresca. But I agree with this. Seems like a misstep. Only explanation I can think of is there's a fund crunch to go out and sign someone when there's 3 senior keepers on the books. Also the reason for free signing at CB

Also the reason for free signing at CB I would wait until this all plays out. There are several keepers linked to us. A negotiating tactic is often to show the selling club you really don’t need the player being discussed. The sporting directors can easily be trying to manipulate getting a keeper without paying the big club tax.

Lautaro Martínez (but he may soon renew after months of it looking unlikely, same for Barella, grrrr) 141 goals for club and country in the past 5 years and he is still only 26, turns 27 right near the beginning of the EPL season, so still prime years for the next 5, 6 or so seasons (Drogba's best goal scoring year was when he was 31/32yo, for instance, when he banged in 44 for club (37 in the 2009/10 season) and country (7) over a 12 month span) Lautaro is only 1 year and 4 months older than Osimhen (and also Mbappe, who is 9 days older than Osimhen) and is far more technical than Osimhen (but obviously not more than Mbappe, lol), so likely will age better these are the top 20 valuation true CFs (I still count Mbappe as a winger) bold are ones who even are remotely (some almost no chance) available if things break right Erling Haaland Lautaro Martínez (only available if he refuses to renew) Victor Osimhen Harry Kane Julián Álvarez Alexander Isak Darwin Núñez (hard pass) Dušan Vlahović Ollie Watkins Rasmus Højlund Gabriel Jesus (hard pass) Loïs Openda Marcus Thuram Viktor Gyökeres Endrick Jonathan David Benjamin Sesko Ivan Toney Evan Ferguson Gonçalo Ramos
Vesper 31,037
IF we pull a CF I wager it will be one of these of these 5 (we are not going to get Osimhen or Lautaro) Dušan Vlahović Viktor Gyökeres Jonathan David Benjamin Sesko Ivan Toney (least expensive, and EPL proven, but also the lowest upside and by far the oldest) I think the last 2 are the most likely, but I would go for J David

Viktor Gyökeres feels like a very expensive dice roll and I doubt we get him anyway. Benjamin Šeško a slightly less expensive one. I was in for him before he became expensive. I would feel better better if we pulled Toney on the cheap or splashed a bit more and got J David.
Pizy 19,250
If Villa weren’t coming off of a top 4 finish I’d say Ollie Watkins would be a great signing as our new striker. But much like Newcastle with Isak, Villa as a club will be thinking that they’re “here to stay” as a regular top 4 contender and would never in a million years sell him. But as Newcastle found out and as many “smaller” clubs that get UCL football once in a blue moon find out, once you have to juggle so many games and competitions it’s very hard to get back the following season. I think Villa finish WAY lower next season. Vesper
