I wake up every morning these days hoping/expecting to see us confirm a deal.

Instead I wake up every morning and see one of our rivals confirming a deal. Spuds and City have now each signed 4 players before we’ve signed a single one.

Concern levels rising rapidly. The one player we’ve actually bid on doesn’t even want to come here and is embarrassingly keeping us waiting in the desperate hope that Barca buy him.

Could be worse mate, could've just spent 50 million on the Brazilian Tom daley

The whole Raphinha situation might seem frustrating but a lot of the noise is coming from the Spanish media and Barca leaks. It's pretty obvious that his first choice is Barcelona and if he has been informed of interest at their end then I can totally understand him wanting to take his time to see how things evolve. But the Spanish media are spinning it as Barca being the only choice for him. If that's the case then we'll hear pretty quickly that we've been rejected by him.

For now, I'd keep the offer on the table. Priority should be tying up deals for Sterling and De Ligt as close as possible to the start of pre season. Then we can come back to Raphinha and assess the situation.

Keeping the offer on the table keeps the pressure on Barca to actually do something. It gives Leeds the leverage to hold out on them. We're not the ones scrambling in the deal. What I actually would not want to happen is if we withdrew too quickly and later in the window it becomes clear Barca can't make an acceptable offer and it paves a clear way suddenly for Arsenal to try and swoop in on him. He'd be a significant upgrade to what Arsenal have.

Contact has been made with Chelsea regarding Neymar. [@LaurensJulien- ESPN] #cfc https://t.co/Kit2sYOO2w

Chelsea are one of the few clubs capable of recruiting Neymar, due to new owner Todd Boehly's desire to make a big statement in the transfer market this summer.— It remains to be seen if Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel are keen. [@LaurensJulien] #cfc

FC Barcelona | Raphinha, más pendiente que nunca de Dembélé (sport.es)

This article say that if Dembele renew for Barça, they move to another targets and Raphinha signing for them its almost impossible

Or dembele or raphinha…

but I don’t think Chelsea need to sign a player that don’t want to play here as his number 1 priority.

Chelsea have signed plenty of players in the past where we might not have necessarily been first choice to the player and they've gone on to have successful careers here.

I wouldn't look at Raphinha if we signed him and not want him because his preference was Barcelona. I'd be a little weary if he wanted to join Barca in the future and whether we'd end up with a sulky player on our hands but I think we'd get a bit of an idea of that by how this plays out.

Ultimately, I think Barca are trying to keep their options open because they don't want to miss out on Dembele and Raphinha. They're trying to keep both open to ensure they have one. If our interest in both is indeed correct then we have some control over the situation currently - we may either get a free run at Dembele on a free from a strong negotiating position where he doesn't blister us with stupid wage demands, or we end up buying Raphinha for a price we appear happy to agree to pay.

I understand that players are employees at the end of the day and there's no real loyalty in the game anymore also raphinha isn't our player and fancies barca more but the way he's pining for them I just would personally rather see us pull out and let him go. No interest in players who would rather play elsewhere anyway. Hope Todd and the boys feel the same

Fabregas wanted an Arsenal return. Drogba and Azpi wanted to stay at Marseille.

If we only went for players who wanted us first and foremost we'd be lucky to stay in the top flight.

As I said only reason Barcelona are in the mix is because they are selling De jong to United.

Now weather Leeds accept a lower fee is another thing.

We should continue closing other targets as Raphina might drag another week or so.

Maybe leeds have only 2 options: let him go to barca or remain with a frustrated player...

Leeds will do well to replace his output as he's far and away their best player. I don't think they'll be too upset if he ended up staying.

The saving grace for them is with the World Cup in the winter, Raphinha can hardly sulk too much or refuse to play and jeopardise his position in the national squad.

Don't fucking buy Ake before we get him, also why would they buy him anyway he won't be a starter. As for United he isn't going to play in Europa League.

He will if they pay him 250k a week. And I think he’d be fine with a year in the Europa League if he’s reunited with his former manager and some of his former teammates.

This is why it’s imperative that if de Ligt is our first choice CB target we have to get it done quickly. Before United or even City turn their full attention away from their own primary targets to de Ligt.
