He looks like a solid player and a much better footballer than Azpi. The price would be cheap and he’d be a pretty nice squad player but it would be strange to replace Azpi with someone who’s nearly as old.

But I suppose it wouldn’t be easy to find a really top class young fullback who will agree to sit on the bench behind Reece.

Richarlison, Victor Osimhen, Jonathan David and Gianluca Scamacca have all been discussed at Chelsea as potential Romelu Lukaku replacements. Simon Jones from

@MailSport reports .

Of all these options I think only Jonathan David interests me. Don’t rate Richarlison, Osimhen would cost an absurd amount and has only been at Napoli for a year, and Scamacca is a massive risk. I’m reading he’s been in loan like 5 times in just a few years? That’s not a positive sign.

Johnathan David is a properly good footballer, can dribble past players, has good pace, and can also hold the ball well. Only 22 years old. We could do much worse than him.

I'd sell for that.   Even though id like to also see him have a chance here, thats money you can't grumble at when you consider he wasn't really setting the world alight at Saints

Way I look at it is if Broja belonged to Saints and we were linked with him for 30m after the season he has just had, would i be keen.  Answer is no.

I don't agree with this take. I say selling is all downside and no up. My first reason is just opinion but my second is rooted in observed data.

The opinion is that Mando is not yet playing at the top of his potential. Talent wise he cannot improve of course but he will improve physically and grow in experience. I think we are two seasons away from seeing the best he can offer. I think that we can afford to turn down £35m while we look to see just how much more efficiency he can add and the observed data I mentioned plays into that calculation.

I'm on record as saying that I think Mando is a better prospect than Tammy but look how well Tammy is doing in Serie A. If, after next season, TT decides that Mando has no future here there will still be a solid market for him in Italy and plenty of EPL clubs willing to believe that he has more development in him. A strong enough market to see bids of £35m or close to it. By this calculation the potential gain is big and the risk of loss is relatively small.

Makes sense as to why we have not bought anyone.

The Lukaku deal was the first thing to do. As well with the shuffle that we have going with board and everything.

It's sad because instead of wasting on Lukaku we would have been getting other targets, but it is what it is.

I do hope that Lukaku kills it in the Serie A like Tammy is doing so we can get some resale value on him.

Broja should definitely be giving a shot before any consideration of selling. And if he don't work sell him to Serie A. That's where all our second tier is ending anyways.

With Lukaku certain to go, selling Broja as well would have me worried that we will indeed make a move for Richarlison.

🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

Because I don’t see any other forwards out there that we could target.

Jesus

Osimhen

I would gamble on Johnathan David. If we gamble on Lukaku, why not gamble on him? Plus he is young and can get a resale value as well.

Just finished listening to the Law podcast. My take aways where this:

Granny was the one outside of RA who had most power on signings. She is going and that leaves a but of a hole as agents are probably uncertain who to contact. TB/TT in charge for now, Sporting Director to be appointed in due course.

Cech's future is uncertain. Law feels he is too close to the old regime if he had to guess and he will probably go.

Transfers

Lukaku is all but done, €10m fee plus no wages covered. This also had to be done before all others as he is so costly.

Kounde - Likely to be done but raised the issue of Sevilla being bellends to deal with.

Other CB's - De Ligt seems to have genuine interest from us. Ake to Law seems to be a player that makes a lot of sense owing to our problems with players coming in from aboard and dealing with the PL. However, apprantly there is not any real interest there. KK likely to stay in Italy. The Inter CB's got mentioned but no real links.

CM - Law thinks we may go for Rice if we can sort out other business first. I presume he may get back-burnered for another window. Offers for Jorgi may change things here.

AM - Real interest in Sterling even if it hasn't been explored as much as some outlets have made out. Sterling very keen to come here.

Law thinks two AM's may end up coming in.

Out of Puli/Werner/Ziyech, Ziyech is most likely to leave and he thinks there is a good chance of this. Puli and Werner difficult to move unless someone in Germany becomes flush.

Loans

Gallagher and Colwill are going to get a real shot in the US tour. Likely to stay.

Broja sounds like he wants playing time so may go, but the club really like him and it will probably depend on whether we get two attackers whether he stays. Most likely to go on loan imo, but he raises the issue of our best young boys not wanting to wait around.

Outgoings

This will wait until Lukaku and incomings. Alonso and Dave still up in the air.

If we’re intent in getting an actual striker I agree. If Jesus goes to Arse I think David would be the best option. He’s a million times the technical footballer that Lukaku is but still offers the power and speed.

If we are really interested in all of them, it should be a no-brainer. One of them is in a class of his own, and I've made my admiration for him known here for a number of years.
