They’ve played once. Against Atletico.

The midfield pair is too imbalanced and Tuchel recognised this. I think we are going to start off the season incredibly slow by the look of things. No new transfers and our only sitter returning late. Bakayoko and/or Drinkwater would be a disaster. Gallagher is rumored to leave.

we really can't afford to start the season off slow. the starting program is so tough, our title challenge will be over before it began. i don't think kovacic-kante is a catastrophe. they were great vs atletico. also i can see RLC growing into the holding position. he is a composed character with tactical discipline. technique and passing have always been polished and his loss of pace does not impede him as much in this position.

A. It very well seems that we will start off the season slowly. No holding midfielder, no ST, lack of signings and any quality in the loan army adding anything.

B. You have a sample size of 1 game. A game against Atletico in which we already won the away fixture and just needed to sit back and defend. Jorginho was suspended I believe. There is a reason why Tuchel always had a holding midfielder on the pitch.

C. Oh Christ, here we go. More nonsensical RLC hope. Enlighten me how you genuinely expect RLC, a player who isn’t a natural holding midfielder, to play this role successfully? He couldn’t even make a relegated Fulham’s team and what tactical discipline are you referring to? That is the most blatantly missing component in his game and is the very reason why Mount made it here and he didn’t.

I swear, if RCL wasn’t a youth player those remaining 10% of people would flog him off too.

A. You can not be sure.TT knows how the season is laid out and will make sure we start it off on the right foot. No new additions also means no broken rhythm and it appears he can still incite new impetus in the team.

B. they also played together in some games under Lamps. never looked like a problem to me. they are flexible experienced players. jsut bc we hav eno naturla older does not mean we suddenly break apart.

c. what you say is wrong. RLC played almost every game for Fulham and only ceased to get appearances late on for them once they were relegated and they already tried stuff out for the championship. I would also have preferred to sign someone instead of keeping hold of RLC but TT appears to be a fan and holder is the only position he can still work. Mount is played over RLc bc of his energy and naturla drive, which are essential for an attacker. RLC was loaned out by Lamps, but TT might very well have different plans. Also i dont expect him to start here but to provide cove.r he surely is good enough for that.

A. Jorginho is arriving late and Gilmour is gone. They were our only holding midfielders. There is your broken rhythm. No new transfers and lack of quality of the loan army that can improve creativity against low blocks, our genuine weakness. There is your lack of new impetus.

B. Ah yes, under Lampard where even a half eyed monkey could see the gaping holes we continued to leave in midfield. Never looked like a problem? Are you on the wind up? Did that entire season, and the Bayern game especially,  just evaporate from your memory?

C. Still doesn't refute the fact RLC couldn't offer a relegated club anything in terms of influence and was the only player the club didn't want to sign permanently. (check out the multiple Fulham forums online regarding him). But hey, he'll strive here because he'll be playing in a completely different position because he has a skill set of tactical discipline he never once showed in his entire career.

there can be impetus from more than signings and jorginho sucks anyway, his absence did never break our rhythm before so no to A.

I don't think midfield wsa the problem under Lamps, it was clearly defence and misfiring strikers. the midfield itself was fine IMO.

We will see what TT's plans with RLC are. For a backup he has enough quality i maintain. check his youth matches for us for evidence of his ability to play deeper

We didn't do anything because everything is related to Haaland deal.

Everyone is fine with signing just him this summer because it's such a big fee. If we know Haaland deal is off I imagine Rice or guy from Monaco would be here by now.

No one is fine with us just signing Haaland this summer, we need a midfielder especially after Gilmour went on loan.

How much game time Billy had?

Gallagher or someone else can easily cover that role in the stands.

If anything now with Jorginho and Kante being ballon d'or candidates and Kova doing good they established their place in team even further.

Even if we sign guy from Monaco for example he would struggle to get game time.

Sigh..I forgot about our tough start this season.

If we're going to integerate any new signings really late on without having a proper preseason with the club, this would be one of the worst seasons to do so.

Which is looking likely the case.

A massive struggle against Palace in our opener and the inevitable defeat against Arsenal the next week looking incredibly possible

I said it before. In our last 4 games of the season, bar CL Final, we lost 3 times and won once. I get we had an eye on the final, but even when we played the other final? What makes anyone to think we will get good results with the first 10 games, have you seen our fixtures list, when we won only 25% of our last four games?

With the same players? We are in the very bad position here. If Klopp get his striker right we are officially battling Spurs and Liecester for the top four and we may as well lose Tuchel till December. I'm not convinced Haland is the only answer here. We also need more players in the attack since none of them have capacity to make something on their own.

Our disastrous transfer policy since 2017 will cost us dearly. We are still paying the price. It turned us in the cup team who is constantly fighting for the fourth place in the league.  Too many average players  on the big salaries. The problem will be if our board don't recognize this and expect title  from Tuchel. They really shouldn't. Even secured fourth place till late March.
