I hope i'm wrong but i think a title challenge is a season to soon. All the recruits will need time to gel as a team so realistically it will be very unlikely we can match the numbers of City and Liverpool at the first time of asking.

Completely agree ... thinking that we will be challenging for the title this season would be a little prematured and being carried away by the signings we're doing.

This season will go into developing the team chemistry which will be so important going ahead (almost 80% of the playing 11 would be under 25). If the players turn out as expected then the season after we will geniuely be title contentors and might be scoring goals for fun (100+).

Yeah, unless Liverpool take a huge step back in their intensity or they get a very long term injury to one of Salah or Mané while at the same time all of our new signings settle instantly I can't see us making up 30 points basically overnight.

Its going to take 90+ points to win the title again and going from 66 to nearly 100 points is simply very unrealistic. Getting within single digit points of the eventual champion would be a great season in the league.

City will probably run away with it but I am not sure Liverpool will be able to simply repeat the last 2 seasons with the paperthin squad they have. Their best players are not in their absolute physical prime anymore and it might also be a case of their intensity dropping after having won everything.

It may sond weird but the signing I am most excited about is actually Thiago Silva. If he can acclimatize himself quickly he will instantly improve us. Managed well he may transform our defence. I can easily see us conceding 15 goals less next season, which means at least 5-10 points more. then we will hopefully score a bit more (i will need to see if werner really can lead a line on his own otherwise we will need to shift the system a bit which might hamper our goalscoring) resulting in maybe again 5-10 more points. the most important signign will be keeper. If we can at least get one who saves what he is expected this should bring another 6+ points . Overall 82-88 points is doable which should secure 2nd or 3rd place.

But obviously this window is more aobut building for the future. I have so far stopped myself from getting too excited and drawing up fantasy lineups but i cant help to really look forward. Lets say we sign a stop gap goalie e.g. foster and then go on and sign a proper one for the future  next season:

2020/21 lineup:

----------------Foster------------

Azpi-----Zouma----T.Silva---Chilwell

-----------------Kante----------------------

----Haverz--------------Kovacic--------

Ziyech-------Werner-----Pulisic

21/22 onwards:

--------------Rajkovic (e.g.)--------------

James----Mbuyamba--Tomori---Sarr

------------------Gilmour------------------

----------Havertz-------Mount-----------

CHO-----------Werner---------Pulisic--

Highly hypothetical with the developments of the younger players but the idea itself is already way too awesome :)

I personally only see Gilmour at DM/DLP, he looks a fish out of water playing higher up. Kai or Ziyech will likely take one CM position while the other is a winger.

So that leaves a 5 (for the two 8 positions) of Kai/Ziyech, Mount, Kova, RLC, Ross. Given next seasons schedule and RLC's injury phroneness (not to mention the doubts around his suitability for FL's system and whether or not his form at the back end of 18/19 was an outliner) i think we can do a lot worse than keep Barkley as an insurance policy (if, as i said, he's happy to play that role).

Fair enough.

I still feel we are a DM away from being truly elite. A proper sitting DM, a Declan rice.

With the CB, GK signings that we have done, it seems obvious that we don't have funds anymore now. If we can somehow sell Barkley and jorginho (lots of links with roma), it can give us the push to get Rice which might change my expectations for the season.

Lampard’s Chelsea were behind only Manchester City and Liverpool for goals scored last season with Willian, Pedro, Giroud and Tammy. Pulisic also only started 50% of games.

Imagine what we’ll produce with Werner, Ziyech, Havertz and a fully fit Pulisic. I cannot wait.

Sadly I doubt we'll ever get a fully fit Pulisic. He's always been injury prone, since his Dortmund days. Thankfully we have Havertz and co to provide those goals and assists if he's not available.

We need him to master the art of making runs in behind the defense. His style of waiting for the ball to come to feet, makes him predictable and is limiting him badly.
