The Tuchel Thread

Fans on another forum are already wondering if TT will be here next season  if we fail to finish top four or win the CL?

I think our chances are now very slim and  more likely to finish 6th or 7th, which is probably where we'd have finished if Lampard had stayed.

I have no doubt RA will see that as a significant failure by TT, so what next?  Unfortunately, RA still thinks quick fix changes of managers will get us back up there, like it use to do. Not gonna work anymore! Long-term rebuild or forget about winning the title!

Those rival fans can go spit, they know we will do much better next season under TT so they are scared. And if you believe RA will sack TT cuz we didnt get top4 then your mental, surely the man deserves next season. We will do good under TT, he cant bloody fix everything in one go. Look at Poch at PSG.

First loss under new manager and already talk about sacking him started 🤣

Should we take a risk of him going to next season, hoping he will unlock that attacking threat we desperately needed? Because we already tried that risk with Lampard going to his second season and he flopped.

How is going with Tuchel next season risk? 😮 I mean, it would be risk just like with every other manager. Ziyech, Pulisic and Havertz improved drastically last couple of games.

Unless we completely lose the plot and results go south in these last few weeks of the season, sacking Tuchel just because we don't get Top 4 would be a fucking stupid decision from the board...again.

Yes, Tuchel was brought in to revitalize our Top 4 challenge but he was also brought in because Lampard didn't have a clue what to do with the team at all. Tuchel has already shown the opposite and given the team a solid platform at the very least to compete properly. Have the problems been solved? No. It's ridiculous to just expect a manager coming midway through a season to just solve all the problems, especially with basically no training time between games.

On top of that, this team isn't a team at its peak or a team that can pilot itself regardless of chopping and changing of managers during the Terry, Cech, Lampard, Drogba etc days. This team is a work in progress. We need to stop fucking about with all these changes and go with the process for once, especially when we have a proper coach in place instead of a novice.

It would indeed be "ludicrous" if it was any other Prem club, but nothing is too ludicrous for us when it cones to making rash decisions.

Just remember, we sacked Gullit months after winning our first trophy in 20 years and when we were second in the league. Sacked a World Cup winning manager half way thru a season. Sacked Carlo after winning the double and finishing second. Conte, basically forced out. Sacking TT  wouldn't be as shocking as any of those sackings!

Gullit's sacking didn't happen under Roman.

Scolari was clueless.

Conte forced out? lol He forced himself out by giving up in the second season.

Like I said earlier, sacking Tuchel just because he doesn't get top 4 would be ludicrous. We'll never get anywhere if we continue to want only short term results etc. Unless we suddenly have a meltdown between now and the end of the season. Let Tuchel continue what he has started into next season.

And also worth noting that Tuchel was talking about his transfer ideas in his presser last Friday.

No chance we are sacking TT if we dont get top 4, like were the club expecting us to destroy all teams in front of us? Based on a few months worth of games? He is staying.

It's a bit of a stretch to say they have improved drastically.

I'd say Rudi is the only player to have shown real improvement.

Chilwell and James have got worse.

Also, under Frank the defense also had a period when it looked more solid and we as also had a good, unbeaten run too. But, even now, we are still dropping lots of points against much weaker teams,  still desperately short of creativity from midfield and still piss poor up front.

I know Gullit was sacked by Bates, but it was still a barmy sacking.

As for Conte. He went from being uber enthusiastic to a right miserable git. He could see the problems coning if the club didn't sign the players he wanted and needed. We've been bang average ever since, so Conte was  proved right!

That's still no fucking excuse for him to just give up and moan his way through that second season.

There is no point stopping and starting, sacking the manager and just going round and round in circles. It hasn't been a disaster far from it.  Doesnt help some of our players are iffy but he'll have the chance to sort that. We're far off title contenders but so are most teams at the moment.

Now comes his first real personal test. TT has always been great when things were going well but has a record of losing his patience and temper when players incur stupid losses. Has to get the team back on track quickly. The Rüdiger Kepa bust-up today was a first sign of things going ugly, hopefully he can sort it out. Only team spirit can get us through.

They were Chelsea fans, not rivals.

When Liverpool were in the middle of their slump, I even saw some of their fans laughably questioning the future of Klopp, so a few Chelsea fans questioning the future of TT isn't all that shocking. Its just how some football fans are these days.

Yes, but again, at the end of the day he was right, and if RA and the board had listened to him we might well have gone onto to at least be very competitive with City and Liverpool over the past few years.

Don't think so. Said this before, if we had gotten Conte's transfer targets, we would have ended up with more duds on top of the duds we already have or his duds over the club's duds.

He may have wanted the likes of Lukaku and Van Dijk - we didn't want to pay the huge fee for the latter but he didn't want to join us anyway - but he also wanted the likes of Fernando Llorente, Candreva, Nainggolan, Perisic etc.
