Popular Post! The Skipper 20,609 Posted October 31, 2020 Popular Post! Share Posted October 31, 2020 We've been screaming for a midfield 3 of Kanté Mount and Havertz and well... MOTM honestly for me is Money Mason Mount. So refreshing to see him in that 8 role, linking up play between attack and midfield. By far his best role. Meshed really well with Havertz and the rest of the attack. Great performance. Kanté close second. Looking like prime Cfc Makélélé out there today. It makes a lot of sense to play him there in games where we are expected to dominate offensively and possession wise, simply because he's so great at snuffing out counter attacks. His passing is considerably better under less pressure as well. Our fullbacks are genuinely the best in the league btw. James is more complete than TAA. He still has some work to do defensively but he's already better at it than TAA, and he can actually become a better defender as be gains more experience. TAA has some genuine weaknesses defensively in his game which means his ceiling defensively is much lower than Reece's. Chilwell is already the second best LB in the league behind Robertson imo and is much younger too. Exciting times ahead. One of our best performances under the Lampard era full stop. I hope we stick with this 433 structure going forward. kellzfresh, Johnnyeye, Stats and 10 others

Magic Lamps 11,692
tbf Moutn despite being played in his best posession looked average af IMO. he misplaced a ton of passes, underhit mostly which would have sent other players through on goal. he really needs to work on his passing. Also i dont like his selfish shooting. he has very little shot power so he needs to place his shots better killer1257

It's the accumulation of games, fatigue that is the concern. There's a reason why Lampard had him on the bench today to begin with. We should have enough to see off Rennes, even with a little bit of rotation.

Like what more could he of done? I think as Skipper posted, his stats were excellent and while football isn't purely down to stats even watching the game, everything he did today was to a high standard. His work with the ball, his work off it, everything about his game today was very good and if he keeps playing like that he will be starting every week for Chelsea and for England 100%. 43 minutes ago, The Skipper said: Our fullbacks are genuinely the best in the league btw. Chilwell is already the second best LB in the league behind Robertson imo and is much younger too. Exciting times ahead. Lets not get too carried away with the fullbacks yet and go and say they are the 2nd best or whatever in the PL yet after maybe 7 games together. Good performances yes but I still think that guys like TAA and Robertson are the best pairing in Europe not just the PL. I will agree Reece is better defensively right now than TAA and while he is also good in the final third, Alexander-Arnold is like Kevin de Bruyne at right back and even with Reece's delivery I would be taking TAA over him all day long in the final third/general play. Its scary. Chilwell has been good so far as well but I think we still need to see how these guys do because 4 or 5 games ago we were defensively a mess and the fullbacks were also exposed. The potential for this pairing is very good though. I think if they can continue to build on this though and Chilwell doesn't switch off like he did at times v Southampton going the other way, which I think he was lucky didn't get highlighted as much (was a issue at Leicester at times) and if Reece can maintain the sort of intensity he's shown in recent weeks, the potential is there for a great partnership. Still would say that we have to be patient with them though because there are still bigger games to come and there will be teams who test them going more the other way and that's where I want to see how they cope. Thiago Silva again today also very good though and you can see his influence already on Kurt and I think with him, Zouma and Mendy all being French speakers its made his transition into the team seamless. 0007, Stats, The Skipper and 6 others

I imagine that my attitude must make no sense to you because your approach certainly makes no sense to me. Emotions running high during a game. If I posted outside of the game it would be different. I'm not perfect and massively irrational during games. He frustrates me beyond belief. There is a skilled, athletic finisher in there somewhere, but he needs to get past the Bambi-on-ice mentality. In hindsight it was naughty, but like I say- irrational emotional response during a game 😪 Fulham Broadway, Johnnyeye, OhForAGreavsie and 1 other

The potential for this pairing is very good though. Yeah, I'm exaggerating a bit, but apart from Liverpool's fullbacks, I don't think there's a better pair in the league. What do you reckon? Reece might not be as much of a cheat code with his crossing as TAA is but he's far better defensively, and will continue to grow defensively. I've always held the belief that Reece can be better than TAA simply because he's more complete, but I am aware that TAA has performed amazingly, especially in the previous two seasons for Pool, but that's mostly because he was also playing in a superstar team with a fantastic manager. Reece has some catching up to do but player v player, honestly wouldn't be surprised if Reece in the future started over TAA for England at RB (maybe TAA moved to midfield). Most people here saw a MOTM performance. I think the best thing you could do at this point is aknowledge you have a huge bias against Mount and work on that or you'll just suffer as a Chelsea fan for the next 10 years because trust me, he's here to stay.
