To be overly critical, hardly any of his PK saves in shootouts were really 'high pressure scenarios".

Villareal, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Spurs come to mind only. The only one that can really be considered high pressure was the League Cup against City and he failed there too.

Kepa's penalty shootout record at Chelsea:
vs Liverpool - lost (final)
vs Liverpool - lost (final)
vs Man City - lost (final)

vs Aston Villa - won (R3)
vs Southampton - won (R4)
vs Eintracht Frankfurt - won (SF)
vs Spurs - won (SF)
vs Villareal - won (final)

i think he will play in the next cl game

Probably...and he should.

But Tuchel always gives priority to the CL, and will likely play his 'strongest' 11 to start the tournament with a win. Meaning his favorite Mendy will start the game.

Problem for Kepa has always been high balls and long range shots. He hasn't had many of these to deal with but against Wolves he did flap one and was lucky to get away with it.

Good to see him with some confidence again, but I think Mendy takes the place back once a couple of teams bombard him with crosses and start taking a few pot shots.

Yeah but long term neither are the right fit. Kepa can be beaten from range and with spamming crosses, Mendy by being constantly pressed into mistakes. let’s hope this chap Slonina is indeed the real deal and can succeed them.

For sure, medium to long term GK needs to be sorted out. Neither are top level.

Should be number one for Spain at WC.

Talk about a turn around for him. Out in the wilderness for both club and country without much hope of things changing. Tried and failed to move in the summer and looked destined to ride our bench for years.

Now he looks to have solidified his starting spot for us and should do for Spain as well. Oh, and he’s also got a smoking hot fiancé and will be getting married soon. The dude is winning life right now. 🤣🤣🤣

As I mentioned in another thread, he really hasn't put a foot wrong when called upon in the last 12 months or so. I'm pleased to see him bounce back & grab his chance to reclaim the number one spot.

Still think Mendy should be number one, @Tomo ?

A very long way to go until i declare myself totally proven wrong (if he plays a big role in bringing us home the points vs United and Arsenal then we maybe start talking) but at this moment in time he's doing very well and can only hope he keeps it up.

Unlike certain other record signings i have always had respect for his self awareness and the way he's conducted himself so i will have fond memories of him despite everything even if this is a purple patch.

I think with the way Graham Potter likes his teams to build out from the back it was always a given Kepa was going to get a fair shot at least due to his technical and distribution skills but I didn’t expect him to start as often as he has so far. But you can see he is always an option when we have the ball and he is much much more comfortable than Mendy in this regard.

Wonder if anyone will claim the board have asked GP to play him like they did in previous seasons with Frank or TT 🤣
