Not sure you can say that. Mata was good for us. DDG was the best gk in the world for 3/4 years.

Ddg was never In his life even in the top5. That is just a myth propagated  by Manure biased media

To keep clean sheet against Ronaldo, Felix and the boys is really nice confidence boost for Kepa.

Really nice from Enrique to give him a chance in this struggling period in his career. Made good one on one save and was good in passing.

In Chelsea his next game is going to be what? FA Cup in January?

Sometimes coaches use one GK in the league and the other in Europe. Maybe Frank do this with Mendy and Kepa?

What a guy. Comes up with historically bad performances and then has the nerve to criticize his manager for losing faith in him. He's received more than a fair share of opportunities to turn things around and he's fucked up all of them. Only reason he's even gotten a sniff since January is because of the price tag but on his own merits he should've been second choice behind Caballero for a long time, and now third choice after Mendy/Willy.

It's good if he performs for Spain because it will keep up his reputation in his home country and maybe eventually some Spanish club will take him.

the nerve of this little shit, taking lessons from Courtois? just keep your fucking mouth shut Kepa, one clean sheet against Portugal is not going to erase all your crap performances for Chelsea.

Not sure if this is the full quote but it sounds way less harsh/controversial than how it's phrased there...

Afterwards, Kepa admitted to a sense of ease with the national team due to the faith shown in him by Spain head coach Luis Enrique.

"I've felt confidence, at ease. I think it was a good game and I'm happy with the confidence of the coach," he told Teledeporte. "When I'm needed to help on the pitch, I try to do the best possible.

"It was a game of great intensity. [We had] more control in the first half. In the second, we found it more difficult to control Portugal's transitions. It was a good test.

"We have to be happy. We stood up today. We have to improve because we conceded a few clear chances, which you can pay for in a tournament."

why does he play so well for Spain, but reverts to dregs with us?

it isn't like we have not given him so many chances

People tell me that this Khalid bloke is informative and entertaining but I'm annoyed about his 'sly dig' interpretation. It certainly lowers my opinion of the writer. After all, the observation that being at ease and feeling the confidence of fans/teammates/coaches enhances the ability to perform is just a statement of the obvious. I would say that it is almost certainly the answer to your question too.

I watched the highlights of the game, and Kepa was far from great, Portugal was incredible unlucky with multiple post-hitting shots and a crazy miss at the death by Felix.

Kepa was ripped apart on every one.

Yeah was thinking the same, the Renato shot that hit the bar was typical Kepa of last season, the shot (all be it hit with power) was right next to him and he didn't move.
