Stats 7,145
He defo should of been given more chances. He typifies the qualities you want in a LWB. Fast, direct, strong, good defensively judging by tonight and ability to constantly make runs in behind. Thought he was very good tonight. I am a fan of Alonso but don't think he will be a miss. In open play, think Emerson gives us much more of an offensive threat. Especially if he can link up with Hazard. kellzfresh, Supermonkey92 and Strike
The Skipper 20,609
Easily has more overall ability and quality than Alonso. Strike, kellzfresh and Supermonkey92
Popular Post! Thor 2,713 Posted April 20, 2018 Popular Post! Share Posted April 20, 2018 Didn't like him. Created too much. Was always in position. Tracked back too well. Crosses were too threatening. Haven't seen him take one, but I know his free kicks can't be that good. Back to the bench for you mate. DDA, The Skipper, kellzfresh and 7 others

manpe 10,861
Promising signs, and he can cross! Got an assist for Moses' goal too. It would be a travesty if Alonso just walked back in when he gets back. the wes

Alonso has 7 in all competitions since joining us (5 in the league - 2 this season). ja1

Tomo 21,751
Was he actually that good last night? Or is the desperation to see Alonso dropped leading to exaggerations? (like the Ivan-Baba situation). I thought he was pretty quiet all be it made a vital contribution at the end to seal the points. That said im by no means saying he isn't promosing and i do want to see more of him, but by the comments you'd think he unleashed his inner prime Ash last night. Wasn't really tested at all defensively because both he and Moses had Burnley's wide players pinned back almost the whole match. In addition, us having both Giroud and Morata up top meant that a lot of the play was condensed in the middle of the pitch. Speaking for myself here, but I'm just glad to see a wingback who I'm not terrified about getting totally spanked for pace. Alonso is a fantastic option to have in the squad but for games against good sides he's too easily exposed. Emerson (if he continues to play well) needs to play in the bigger games. I get what he means though, he did well but you can see more potential for him to attack their right hand side should he have wished. Hopefully a run of games to increase his confidence will see him do as such. Bosnian Blue
Popular Post! manpe 10,861 Posted April 21, 2018 Popular Post! Share Posted April 21, 2018 He mostly opted to cross than go 1v1, true, but it is so understandable considering it was his first league start in a year or so and has played only bit-part minutes after joining us. I don't mind, his crosses were dangerous. Fernando, Unionjack, DDA and 4 others
