Mason Mount

Really think his next step is becoming a better 8.

He needs to be able to fill in that position because he's not a great winger. If he becomes a better box to box midfielder I think that would help us tremendously.

To me he seems to have the build for the makings of an 8 but hasn't developed defensively like I thought he would.

Cannot play as an 8, if we don't play a system that has an 8.

Back four tonight. Him just having the ability to play it would be a plus to me. I know when we play our normal shape we just run 6.

I've been calling for him to be dropped for a few games.

He was dropped for West Ham but he's been promptly recalled for the very next game.

Tuchel probably thought he would deliver against weaker opposition. Hope he has now woken up and will relegate him to the bench for the next few games. He needs to work his way back to the starting 11, if he's interested.

Mount has not looked his usual self at all this season. No idea what's going on, but the team can't afford to take a chance anymore.

I really like Mount as a player -- prob my sec fav after Kante -- but he's no good unless he's 100% fit and driving the team forward. If he wants to play at this level he needs to be a CR9 in terms of dedication and fitness... that's the price. His slow start is expected, and even acceptable, from different type of players, not him.

Like Havertz, Mount needs to be dropped, simply not good enough.

Big fan of Mount and have always rated him very highly but his form this season has been horrible. His best quality has always been his tireless engine for pressing and last season he even added some productivity in the final third (13G+16A all comps) but now he looks nowhere near the same player. No end product and also looked a bit lazy or uninterested.

Is he sulking because of the contract situation or is there another reason? Either way it would do him good to sit out for a few games and sort out his head, though if the alternatives are Pulisic and Ziyech then I don't fucking know anymore.

A top-shelf performance against the wolves.

On top of his usual high energy and urgency, he also displayed quick feet, and especially vision by adding a couple of assists to his tally.

He's going to be difficult to deal with if he carries this form to Qatar.

Slowly getting back.

There's no doubt we are a much better team when he's in form.

Mount and Gallaghers combined energy and work rate on the pitch is what I was looking forward too this season.

Looks like we are getting there.

Every six months or so, we always get the Mount needs to be dropped/he isn't that good stuff. Problem is, even when he isn't producing offensively he is still doing more than anyone else on the pitch with his off the ball work; barring Kante when available.

And yet there are still people who fail to realise how good Mount is and want to slag him off as soon as he goes a few games without a goal or assist.

I love him, he had a few meh meh games, but has rebounded nicely. He is a superstar,  haters be damned.
