Mourinho got his wel deserved revenge today IMO. It stings but I'm still at his side when it goes about who's been guilty for his sacking. People may think Alonso missing was what hugely contributed to the result, but in fact it only did so indirectly, as it highlighted our biggest weakness: lack of enough ball playing CBs. 

During our time with Mourinho one of our biggest problems, especially against big teams, was the lack of press resistance and ball playing CBs. We constantly struggled against teams that would heavily press us, leaving us to be very deep in the box and hoping for scraps going forward. Ball playing center backs in modern football are no joke; they allow your team to be more resilient against pressing teams-which are usually the best teams in Europe- and also advance the attack, not having to rely on your attackers dropping deep and going past three or four players to just get into the opponent's half. Whoever thinks ball playing CBs aren't a must in modern football is living in the past. 

With Antonio's back three, what's made us so much more resilient to the opposition press has been having Azpi and Luiz as two defenders who are comfortable with the ball and under pressure.

Today, we had only David Luiz as the only defender out of the three who can do the same. Antonio's worst mistake however was shifting Azpi to the left, this made everything ten times worse since he isn't comfortable on his left at all. Fortunately he realized his mistake soon enough and reverted his position with Moses but he should have had Ake in the squad and play him and Moses as wing backs. 1/3 defenders that are good with the ball is simply not enough for a back three. This game certainly reminded me of the Mourinho days. I hope Antonio learns from this lesson, and I hope we sign Van Dijk in the summer for this exact weakness(and because he's an upgrade on Cahill of course).

It's not really just the CBs. Lots of players on the team are poor at keeping the ball/passing. Matic is very bad, Willian too, Azpi is just okay and Cahill and Moses are bad as well. This creates a lot of pressure where we can't really keep the ball at all. This was just a carbon copy of the Tottenham game.

What do Ruben and Chalobah have to do to get games ? No matter how invisible Matic is they can't get a look into the team. That makes me really sad. I'm pretty sure they'd offer a lot more than he does but Conte just won't change the lineup.

I just saw his post-match interview. The way he responded by not understanding the question said a lot, the way he spoke about refereeing mistakes in last games said a lot. This man is not going to sleep for a couple of days, I am sure of that. I hope he makes the team respond big, big time.

Our weakness is pressing. Chase our defenders, force them to go long into costa. Costa can't win any headers so that guarantees you the ball. 

Prevent any passes from getting to hazard and hope costa is playing on the same level as torres and we have no attacking threat. 

Like I said in another thread, we have the worst ball playing footballers in the top six so high intensity pressing is our weakness, and I fear that Spurs will show us this in our next match.

One thing I dont like is that sometimes he is very active, screaming and managing like mad on the side, but then is some games like today, he just stands there, watching us getting overrun and beaten, and do nothing. Like he knew before the match we will lose and wont give a shit.

I don't really think this will help. Spurs won't really feel the pressure because they're not in the lead as we are. All the pressure is on us.

Haters of what? Haters of the gross Diego Costa produced? Haters of us losing to United at OT? Haters of us dropping points? Haters of losing the league? 

Fans are have the f***ing right to be pissed off if they don't like what they are seeing. They are not LESS of a fan if they are frustrated of the gross they are seeing. We are Chelsea, not Sunderland. These players are getting well paid and should be grateful they are playing for Chelsea Football Club.

I agree that we have the crappiest squad out of the top 6, and we should be grateful at one point we were 10 points clear but that doesn't mean we should bottle it from here. Leicester did it and we have better players than them. 

Again if they are fan why then does the thread only becomes active when we lose? Not when we win?

I've been posting here for more than 6 years I mostly post on here when we lose. When we win I post a few posts and then I leave instantly. When we lose I get pretty upset. Today's loss was bad for me and I've been at the computer thinking about it for 6 straight hours since the game was played having done nothing much except having had lunch. Losses are upsetting and I post more when I'm unhappy. Not really a hater of the team but I feel there are genuine problems with the team and the board that are swept under the rug when we win. It's just the crunch end of the season and I'm starting to get nervous and hope we don't bottle the league.

 

I respect all the posters on here though, even the ones I disagree with. As long as we can respect disagree with one another it isn't too bad I think. The last thing I would want though is for this forum to turn into reddit where any genuine criticism are hidden away under downvotes and everything just becomes group think.
