Invincibles not even up there. Not to discredit them in anyway, but I'd take that 1 L for more W's. It's a shame they didn't go unbeaten in 04/05. Can you imagine going unbeaten and not winning the league...

Would be nice to reach 90+ again. It's definitely possible.

Ancelotti was given an ageing squad, but yet managed to produce the best football of any manager in the Abramovich era and win the league and cup double. Abramovich and the board didn't rejuvenate the squad in his second season and it cost us. Instead Torres was forced down his throat.

Actually, Ancelotti himself pushed for Torres.

I'm not even trying to defend Ancelotti, but it's ridiculous for some to lay all the blame on him for that 2nd season. He had his problems as a manger. My point is, the board simply didn't back him in the summer. EVERYBODY knew we had an ageing squad. When things started to go south, we then wasted over 80 million pounds on Luiz and Torres in January. Both panic buys.

I just googled that 2010-2011 squad. It was a 70ish point sort of team. Nothing more. I remember there was a time even McEachran looked our best midfielder.

Ancelotti did the best he could with what was an ageing squad. Mourinho is doing what he's supposed to do with the best team in the league and with no competition from his rivals. But it's Ancelotti who gets blamed?

Also, Luiz was incredible that season, JT even said he'd be our next captain at the time...

Torres was pushed through by Ancelotti and Luiz actually helped us when he came in. Can't use that as a stick to beat the board with.

How Arsenal can snatch the title from Chelsea’s grasp
18 April 2015 – Chelsea v Manchester United
Chelsea lose only their third league match of the season at Stamford Bridge as Louis van Gaal’s side leap-frog Arsenal to move up to second and within five-points of Jose Mourinho’s side.Pts Chelsea 73, Man Utd 68, Arsenal 66
26 April 2015 – Arsenal v Chelsea
Eight days after booking their place in the FA Cup final, Arsene Wenger’s side inflict a second successive defeat on the west London club. It’s also their first league win over their rivals at the Emirates since 2011. Pts Chelsea 73, Arsenal 69
29 April 2015 – Leicester v Chelsea
Diego Costa returns from injury as Chelsea pile further misery on soon to be soon-to-be-relegated Leicester with a comfortable win and stretch lead at top back to seven points. Pts Chelsea 76, Arsenal 69
3 May 2015 – Chelsea v Crystal Palace
Alan Pardew’s in-form Palace side give Mourinho’s boys a run for their money and leave the Bridge with a much-deserved point. Pts Chelsea 77, Arsenal 69
4 May 2015 – Hull City v Arsenal

18 May 2015 – West Brom v Chelsea

20 May 2015 – Arsenal v Sunderland
Wenger’s side move to the top of the table for the first time since the start of the season, ending Chelsea’s record-breaking stint at the summit in the process and take a two-point lead into the final day of the season. Pts Chelsea 77, Arsenal 79
24 May 2015 – Arsenal v West Brom and Chelsea v Sunderland
Knowing only a win and Chelsea draw or defeat will guarantee them the title, Arsenal destroy West Brom 5-0.Sunderland head into the final day needing a point and results elsewhere go their way to avoid the drop. They score a last-gasp equaliser to secure the draw and in the process deny Chelsea of a first league title since 2010. Final pts Chelsea 78, Arsenal 82

So in the space of five weeks the 'Journalist' expected us to lose to United, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Brom, and to draw against Palace and Sunderland. He only had us winning 1 game and that was against Leicester. I have to give it to the Journalist, it's a funny read.

this was said by some delusional idiot on arsenal fan tv. i think the stupid journo took his aweome vision and penned it down.

3 wins and a draw would be the very least we should aim for, which in turn would get us to 90. I think as soon as we win against Palace, we will be a lot more free flowing and relaxed. We really should aim for 4 wins though.

The Journo must be a fan of the Specialist in Failure. In fact this piece was an excellent example in failure :Goober:

Listening to media saying how adaptive we are, i had a thought.....

well more of a dream team to be honest, it would be the greatest team of chelsea's history, really more fun to think about than expect to happen!

But, could you imagine Jose building a team which could play in a similar way to all of his great teams?

the machine like efficiency an direct ruthlessness of his chelsea 2004-06

the unbeatable defence of Inter with a midfield of counter attacking prowess.

the glitz and aesthetic of his madrid title winning team.

Thing is, im not so sure you have to really sacrifice one for the other (within reason)?

i think your defence needs to be able to play both deep and high pressing?

your midfield needs to be athletic and powerful (chelsea midfield) have the defensive screening of cambiasso (matic?) and have someone to control possession and be good at starting counterattacks (dont think thats cesc, but i do think Koke)

Hazard gives the spark, the magic in attack. Costa can be dynamite and ignite a game that much more through confrontation, but we need another attacking theat. i think we need a winger/striker. someone who can play the role malouda/anelka did for us, etoo did for inter and ronaldo for madrid. ?

such a team would win the league three times in a row ;)

very unlikely to happen though, i think we'd still have to redo at least half the team?

what would be your dream mourinho team?

I think that's mou aim.

To make this team an adaptive team.
