The Mourinho Thread

Anyone else thinking after the shocking start to the season Mou didn't have the stomach to turn things around or desire to try new things and secretly wanted to be pushed.

I know the owners wife supported Eva and wondered if that support had a bearing on the decision to get rid of him.

Preditions for him lasting at United , I'm down for 4 seasons as I think it's the job he really wants and will bend over to keep it.

Hope I don't see him at the sidelines in old trafford. If he goes for another English club, it will be obvious that he isn't loving Chelsea as much as he claims.

As a Chelsea fan you just should be happy that Jose talks only good things about Chelsea and especially fans. He told so many times that if you sack him he will stay in England because he loves his family and they are happy there. I don't see any drama here unless Jose goes to United and tells they are his dream team.

I'm not happy because I don't trust in his words anymore. If he don't go for manure he will show a nice gesture that he didn't lie when saying he loves Chelsea. But if he go there, he will confirm that you can't trust in any of his words.

What are you talking about? His word was he will go to other English team if Chelsea sack him. Jose never told he won't manage other English team. That was his word and it's very honest...

Mascherano:

“My feelings for Liverpool don’t mean I’m tied to them. I have a lot of affection for them and always will have, but if in the future a Premier League team gave me a chance, you can’t say: ‘No, I’d only play for one team,’” he says. “We’re professionals, this is our living. Whatever happens, my feelings for Liverpool won’t change.

Mascherano :D What an example. I'm sure he will even play for Everton if they give him more than Barca and he won't even think twice.
I know they are professionals and they do this for a living. What I'm talking abouts is something different. If he really loves the club(said that not only once in interviews), he won't take manure's job so easy. So he have said if he gets the sack from the team he loves. he will manage another top team from England, of course, bacause he loves the country. OK. Now I know he doesn't love Chelsea and is ready to give all his heart to united. Losing me here as his big fan.

So basically the same happened with Juan Mata. He really loved the club (said not only once in interviews). And what happened? He ended up joining United. So in your standarts he shouldn't have joined them only because he loves us. Unless you hate Juan too now.

The differences are that Juan is a player and Mou is a manager. Mou will have bigger impact for utd if he goes there, And Mata wasn't for such a long time with the club and hasn't the same strong connection between the fans and him as Mou.

The career of a manager differs a lot from that of a footballer, for that reason it is really difficult not to go to a rival club.

1) A career of a manager at top level is a lot longer than that of a professional footballer: take Jose for example, he started coaching Porto (first big club) when he was 39 years old and came to us for the first time when he was 41. Currently he is already for about 13 years in the business, that's a long time but he could easily coach at top level for another 17 years, that makes 30 years in total. The same goes for other young talented managers like Pochettino and Simeone, or examples that already happened like Sir Alex and Wenger.

And what is the average career length of a professional footballer at top level? Let's say if you take the Giggs, Seedorfs and Totti's as example, that's 20 years as maximum for players to perform at top level at a top club, but the average is closer to 15 years and that's already above the average I think. So that makes 30 years versus 15 years.

2) The second thing is, as a manager nowadays your career is very unstable and fragile. You don't have your faith in your own hands, I think nobody here could say Jose did badly in his first spell for us, but yet he was sacked in his 4th season. Or if you look like Carlo recently, won La Decima but still got sacked after a trophy-less season. There are many more examples, but bar Pep every top manager has been recycled multiple times in the last 10 years .Managers are like clothes nowadays, the owners just changes clothes whenever they want.

Compare this to the average stay of players at a club, look at Aurier for example, how is it possible that he isn't sacked yet? Because players have a resale value and managers normally don't have that, that makes it difficult to get rid of players if they don't want to move. Look at our own club: the likes of Mikel and Oscar are just waste of space but if they don't want to move- you can hardly push them to move, especially Mikel who was often not even on the bench but still stayed at the club because he has a contract.

Conclusion:
So I just wanted to make clear that the chance of a manager to join rival clubs is much bigger because they (average) 1) have a longer career and 2) a shorter stay per club than a footballer. So we can't really blame Jose if he moves to Man United after being sacked twice by Roman, unless you expect him to go to small clubs in England as his family wants to stay in England.

Inter director Bedy Moratti accidentally let slip “Jose Mourinho is happy, he’s going to Manchester United.”

The sister of former President Massimo Moratti spoke to calciomercato.com as she left a lunch meeting with Mourinho and her family.

“Of course he’s always fantastic and we missed him as a person here,” she said in the video interview.

What are you talking about? Mourinho is a failed manager. He's the worst there has ever been, he left us in the relegation zone and he's to blame for all of Chelsea problems. We should be happy and thankful that he's going to MU because he will destroy them like he destroyed us....... right?
