The Mourinho Thread

As Torres misses go, that has to be #1.

Benitez messed that up though. He played the prior match with Luiz in midfield and Tite, Corinthians' coach said he was very worried about Luiz's physicality in midfield - Corinthians was a very physical team. Sure enough Benitez decided to make things easier for Tite and Corinthians by moving Luiz back to defense, weakening the midfield.

That was the UEFA Super Cup. Was talking about the Club World Cup.

Yes got it, I see that now.

My misunderstanding came from the fact that the first line of the post by LDN Blue that you replied to, talked about us having lost 2/2 of them. That clearly was a reference to the Super Cup and my first reading of your reply was that it was this trophy you were referring to. As I say, I see that I got that wrong.

Pardew said Wenger is better than Jose.

Wow, just wow.

That's a very misleading headline by the Daily Mail. How surprising. The actual quote was: 'I think everyone at Arsenal knows he’s done a magnificent job. For me, he’s the second best manager in Premier League history (behind Sir Alex Ferguson). Jose (Mourinho) hasn’t done enough yet.’ And it's hard to disagree with that.

The problem is.. Ferguson kept up his success throughout his United tenure. He had spells of defeat but more or less always recovered so that it was temporary. Wenger's success only came in the first half of his reign, from 1996-2003 you can say he is the second best manager, but for the last 11 years he's been actually quite bad. He wins on longevity, but he loses out in his failure to adapt. Mourinho simply loses on lack of longevity and I don't think that makes Wenger the best manager in the history of the PL after that.

hard to disagree with that? I think the quote is actually worse than the headline.

Wenger has spent the last 10 years pissing on the years he spent building himself up.

Baffles me how he still manages to hold onto praise in some corners of the journalist world

He's surpassed him. Not "accomplished just as much"

More than double league titles. 2 CLs to Wenger's 0 and has records Wenger could only dream of having.

Not to mention the biggest one, Wenger HAS NEVER BEATEN HIM. And never will 7-5-0.

I think enough is enough.

Mourinho needs to have a word with the squad and tell them to stop diving.

Is blatantly cheating and we don't want no one to do it to us.

So we need to start first by putting our house in order.

Sounds as unconvincing as it gets, sorry Jose.

"Let's try and make everyone look good in one unpleasant situation" - well, ok, maybe it even would have worked if we heard it all back in August, but not now.

Whatever spin gets put to it, it all comes to one thing - Lampard said he won't play for another PL club, and now he's playing for City.

You could say 'better late than never' to be fair.

My view is that when you want to look forward, look for the future and have people like Fabregas, Matic and Jeremie Boga, which are the next 10 years of the club, not the next year, that we made the right decision.

That's all well and good, but Mourinho needs to start showing that. Giving RLC less than 10 minutes in a dead rubber isn't exactly helping.

He scored in a lot of important games for this club and the history of this club. Now he’s just carrying on and we are not so happy when we see that, but this is the reality.

At least Ivanovic speaks his mind, none of this "happy for him" b/s.
