I think his biggest issue here is Eden Hazard playing on the left as well, mainly because at Leverkusen and with Germany Schurrle played as a left winger more frequently and was much more effective there. Eden on the right is better than Schurrle on the right but Eden on the left is better than Schurrle on the left too. Against PSG last season when he came on for Eden on the left he just looked much more at home there than what he does on the right.

but when he scored 2 vs stoke and 3 against fulham. wasn't he central/right. i feel he has to try too hard from the left, and dosen't have much talent to beat a defender.

He played more centrally against Stoke yes and against Fulham he kind of varied between the left and right sides depending on where Eden was.

His problem is simple, he has a weakness which will never gel with Chelsea. Dribbling & ball control.

He's the Torres of our AMs. Sure he's useful in some matches, but our playing style is largely based on possession now and he'll never fit in that kind of playing style.

That said, nothing wrong with keeping in the squad but he'll have a hard time getting regular playing time here as long as he stays.

The only time we don't play possession is probably against 2-3 teams in all of Europe and even then I doubt Jose would trust him to do his job over a guy like Willian.

Jose said Schurrle would be nice against Southampton but we dominated possession against them too.

No thanks. This guys deserved position at this moment now is on the bench, and for me it confirmed that Willian should be starting over him every game.

Dropping Schurrle from the starting XI yesterday after his poor performance at Southampton is fine. But to drop him completely from the matchday squad looked like a misjudgment, given Tottenham were playing a high line and Schurrle could have been used to exploit that better.
